A while back I posted a picture of a tractor and asked what it was. Well now here is the tractor working dividing the rows and putting the watermelon on top of them. The other pictures are of a vineseed harvester smashing up the melons for the seed. Just a little FYI some of the hybred seedless watermelon can fetch up to 4000 bucks for a pound of seed.

Where's the down pedal on that thing? How do you squirt it to start it or has it got a primer system? :D

Hybrid seedless watermelon, 4000 bucks a pound? My guess it is a typo or the seed is pretty rare. Maybe 1 seed per watermelon.

Not a typo... Depends on the variety and the demand. Most of the high dollar seed is sold by the seed not the pound. Remember seedless is just less seed not no seed. Most of the store crap you buy is ripened on the way so there isn't much seed development. If you let it ripen on the vine there is seed.....just less. :jawdrop: Also seedless watermelon is a sterile seed it will not reproduce. Kinda like a horse and a donkey make a mule. Mule is sterile.

I used to have to clean up the vineseed equipment towards end of harvest..
damn sticky stuff to say the least....I hated that shit..
(But I also loved eating the watermelon for lunch after putting it in an icecold
cooler for a couple hours first)
yummi...

I take it the vineseed harvester smashes the watermelon and strains but keeps the seed by way of some sort of strainer?
By the looks of the second pic the divider is not a perfect mechanism as some of the watermelons are a little cracked. Looks like a pretty good ratio though.

most of those splits are just an over ripe watermelon. Now seperating cucumbers is a whole different story. Quite a bit of loss there.

If you find two I would be interested also. Same reasons.
