Boaters wanting better access to Lake Powell waters can now have houseboats and leisure powerboats launched and retrieved from Antelope Point Marina's private launch ramp, Antelope Point Holdings said.
The launch ramp has been concrete surfaced and lowered 35 feet below the current water levels just in time for Labor Day weekend traffic.
The brand-new covered fuel dock, the only shaded fuel dock on Lake Powell, will be open for business as well over the holiday weekend.
The accessible fuel dock immediately adjacent to the main waterway will allow boaters to fill up their boats at the launch site, save fuel and an hour of travel time down-lake to get gasoline at the existing Wahweap Marina.
Boaters are also being introduced to Antelope Point Marina's 30-acre dry-storage facility that accommodates boats of all sizes and offers boaters high-service launch and retrieval.
Boat owners can have their vessels cleaned, serviced, mechanically checked, provisioned, and waiting for them dockside - all part of the Antelope Marina commitment to giving customers every convenience and comfort, a spokesperson said.
The marina launch ramp has been extended due to the lowering water levels at Lake Powell as well as concern regarding available launch ramps accessible to boaters and to assure that Antelope Point Marina can provide customers with a safe, efficient boating experience.
The extended ramp will allow easier access onto the lake while other ramps are closed or are asking that boaters use extreme caution when launching.
Although levels are lower than in recent years, there is still an abundance of water for boat enthusiasts to enjoy wakeboarding, jet skiing, fishing, and other recreational activities, the spokesperson said.
The City of Page, Ariz., tourism office has shown a steady flow of tourists to Lake Powell despite concerns of lower-than-normal levels.
Reports of lower levels have not stopped boaters this summer from enjoying the abundant fishing, spectacular natural scenery, and rock features and arches newly exposed by the current levels, the spokesperson said.
Boaters wanting to schedule their boats to be launched and retrieved from Antelope Point Marina can call (928) 640-0931 or get more information at www.azmarinas.com.
A 24-hour notice is suggested for leisure-boat launches, and a week’s notice is requested for houseboat launches. Walk-ins will be launched on a first-come, first-served basis. Prices start at $30 dollars one way, depending on the size of the boat.
Antelope Point is a four-phase, $80-million project being built at Lake Powell.
Antelope Point Marina includes slips for rent, dry storage, houseboat rentals, and will eventually include a 6,000 square-foot restaurant, shops, resort, cultural center, and camping. The resort, camping area, and cultural center are scheduled to open in 2008.
The marina officially opened to houseboat and slip renters June 26. Antelope Point Marina and Resort is a collaborative project of Antelope Point Holdings, LLC, the Navajo Nation, and the National Park Service.

I did it yesterday. It's expensive because it's valet! They drive you car down launch your boat and go park your car for you. When you come back, get them on the radio and they bring your truck down to the ramp. Its pretty cool actually, you just have to sit there and look stupid while they take care of everything. Plus it probably saves you about $10 in gas because your already like 10 miles up lake. Only problem is the top of the ramp and road to it is all dirt so your truck, trailor and boat get really dirty.

Valet Launching!!! Now there's a new niche in the boating world. Very cool idea. I'm sure my sweetie would say the 30 bucks is well worth her not having to walk the long distance from the truck back to the boat every time. Another plus is it will eliminate the morons at the launch ramp who don't know how to launch and get the hell off the ramp. I always love it when you see 5-6 people trying to launch or retrieve an 18-foot Gayliner, half of them in the water up to their necks. They just stare at ya when you back in and are gone in less than a minute. ROOKIES!!!
