I just went to 24 hour fitness to enroll. Those crazy f*cks wanted 180 dollars to join! No way. Needless to say I got on their scale and in the 7 year time span that I was away from Cali I have gained more weight then I could have possibly fathomed.
I need to start working out again and get my fat ass back into shape. Where do you guys recommend going?

24 HF is a rip and most of the staff are just a bunch of corporate tools. But it's MILF Central!!!
If you don't care about the hotties, you should just find a smaller mom and pop type gym, if the price is right and the weights and machines are plentiful and in good condition. I got fed-up w/ 24 hour's corporate approach a couple of years ago. Nothing worse then listening to another sales-pitch come over the loud speaker when your trying to do some reps. :yuk:

I use to belong to 24hr along time ago. After trying to work out around all the
fags I quit and bought my own weights.
Now I have my own gym at home. Believe me it's the only way to go.
Some people claim they can't get motivated at home. For me it's just a mind
set. You just have to do it. I have to keep my wife out the weight room
though, she thinks my weight equipment is sex machines. :rollside:

Buy a good mountian bike and ride it to work every day. That, plus a few push ups and crunches, if done on a regular basis, will get you better results than 99.99% of the fitness club members and people with personal trainers etc ever get...
P.S. I'm a clinician who runs a gym as part of a wellness center.. So, shhhhhh. ;)

I second what HARDCORESKI said. Get some equipment yourself and set it up in your house. You don't have to drive to go use it, but still have to make it part of your day to get in there and utilize it.
It's a mindset. Take it or leave it. Workout or don't.
I figure my equipment has paid for itself over the 4 years that I've had it and both my wife and I use it. My daughter is even "play" working out while we are doing our stuff. It will rub off on her to stay in shape when she's old and frumpy like her parents.

Same here. I have top of the line stuff mostly free weights and cable machines.
It has paid for it self many times over.
When you walk in the door you have to hit the weights not the beer.
Then bust one open after words. Kinda is like having sex. The beer part anyway.
