How old are you?
I'm so old I remember......
1) Drive-in theatres
2) Sat morning cartoons
3) The term “gay bashing”. (It’s what hate crime used to be)
4) Buying and paying off a new boat was realistic for my blue collar old man.
5) My only worry when trick or treating was having a big enough bag.
6) Fist fights at school (It's what shooting sprees used to be)
7) Drunk drivers were simply driven home and turned over to parents or wife.
8) Reel-to-Reel tape decks
9) Buying realistic looking plastic assault gun toys at any toy store.
10) Sports figures were role models not defendants

I'm so old I remember when:
1 Premium fuel was 100 octane and 29.9 cents per gallon
2 If you got in a car accident... it may have been your fault.
3 If you didn't have a job in your field it was because you were lazy
and not because your job is now in China
4 Politicians screwed around on their wives and no one cared.
5 Progress was NOT a dirty word.
6 If a tree needed to be cut to make a house... the squirrel could relocate.
7 Politicians were NOT afraid of offending someone.
8 People WERE profiled because of race and or color.
9 Arguments were settled with words or fists... not automatic weapons.
10 People accelled because of hard work and perseverence... not affirmative action.

We must be the same age.
Black & wight TV.
Cars didn't have disc brakes or stereos they had radios. It was a luxury to have AC.
We didn't have AC in our house we used swamp coolers.
Swinn Sting Rays were invented. Then 10 speed bikes.
45rpm records. My parents had 78's.
We burned our trash in the back yard in the incinerator, all houses had them.
Most every one was a democrat.
No one landscaped there houses or had built in sprinkler systems.
You could ride your Taco mini bike and off road toys on the street and no one
gave a rats ass.
Fist fighting was how you settled your differences.
Drive in theaters and the local roundy rounds was weekend entertainment.
All recreational boats were made of wood and had a prop.
I remember when jet boats were invented.

Up here, depending on how old the neighborhood is, you can walk down the street and people wave and say hello. And there are quite a few neighborhoods like that up here. Mainly on the eastside. The westside is where most of the transplants move into the NEW neighborhoods.
Oh, and I remember when it was a luxury to have a cassette tape deck in your car!

If you had a boat you were rich (and it was an outboard).
You could hitchhike and live to tell about it.
The cops would take your pot and beer (for themselves) and let you go.
There was no such thing as unlawful sex with a minor.
Dirtbikes were air-cooled, had three inches of travel and lasted about a week.
Fast cars had V-8's and rear drive.

11) The Milk Man.
12) The Helms Bakery Truck.......

1. Ahdore farms milk man delivering milk in glass bottles.
2. Black and white TV with no remote control. We did'nt need one, we only got five or six channels.
3. The 101 freeway being only 2 lanes from Agoura out to Ventura.
4. Katherine's landing having only 1 set of docks.
5. Laughlin did not exist, the Riverside was the only thing there and it had just a few slots, a couple of tables a small resturant and a dirt parking lot.
6. Eldorado Marina on Lake Mohave before the flash flood wiped it out.
7. The Chevron station in Searchlight that posted pictures of all the bad wrecks on Hwy 95.
8. The hotel at Katherine's Landing had only 16 rooms and was never booked up.
9. Metal lunch boxes.

Shakey's had a player piano and LONGGG tables
Going to sleep listening to the drags at OCIR
Riverside Internatonal Raceway
Badenoch's was a gas dock and had a waterslide
the Waterslide park up by the old Rock Palace!
S.W.A.T. on TV!
Wonderama and Romper Room
The New Zoo Revue
Hot Seat! (like a Big Wheel, but better!)(and bigger!)(it looked like a 3 wheel chopper)
You could actually go for decent boat ride on the strip w/o a gut belt!
There weren't no lake lice
When JetSkiis came out
You could have your own trailer (not a mobilehome) at Castle Rock
When "Minitrucks" were in (and convertible, at that!)
When Sundance burned down and had a tent for a couple years

The first T.V. show I remember watching was Dukes of Hazard
The big wheel was the shit
I wore underroo's as pajamas
We never locked the door until we went to bed and we could play outside until dark
Cabbage patches were the dolls to have!
Stand up jet skis were cool to ride and (I still enjoy them on certain waters) and the sit downs weren't such a problem on the water.
I think I might be young after reading all the prior posts to mine! But many of them fit in to my childhood.
