You may not get alot of response here. Commander doesnt seem to rate very high on this board. I have one and love it. But a few on here have been treated badly by them so now....????

I agree...
If the boat is in tip top shape, I think 11k-12k is what I'd ask since 14K seems to be the start for openbows.....

Anyway, Mr. Sandstorm, you should be able to get 8 or 9k for that boat. Depending on condition and market you might get more.

How much time you got? lol
Do some research on the boards, try a search or what have you. Basically the boats are good and the big problems have been with Customer service issues and personalities.
Ahhell's commander is a nice boat and well built, so unfortunately a good boat with a stygma attached to it.

I sold my last one rather quick. I had it 10 years, kept it in great shape like yours and sold it for nearly what I paid.
Just have patience, a good boat will bring you a buyer.

Also, I don't think there is any problem with Commanders PAST REPUTATION. Meaning their older boats are still worth buying. The issues with Commanders have been recent, and as explained above, more of a customer service issue.

I like the idea of selling it as a 2005 model. You could get more for it.
No has to know it was a demo boat.

Now you have my curiosity...why did you have to replace the stringers in an '89? If it was just to strentghen them, then ok. But if you had to replace because of rotting....well, that doesn't make Commander look good, does it??

I just sold my '93 Commander Hawk 22.5 LX on the Boattrader.com. Got lots of calls the first week it ran. First guy to look at it bought it. I asked $17k and got $16k. If you look in nadaguides.com and check your book value you'll just sh*t. They tend to lowball west coast customs. Mine booked at only $12k and I knew that just had to be a joke - even if it was a dreaded Commander. The callers I had didn't balk at the price, which was set comparable to similar year Ultra's, etc., I saw on the trader site.
I must admit, contrary to the Commander rep on ***boat strings, I loved the boat and never had any problems with it. Though I never had to go back to Sy and the Commander gang to experience the substandard service I keep hearing about. I dragged that sucker out to Parker and it stayed there for the 11 years I had it.
