4 hurricane's in 1 month is too crazy..........assuming Jeanne hits too. Many sad stories for families that you don't hear on the news.
I'm glad I don't own an insurance company there.

?????? Pensacola, several hundred miles from Tampa.
Pensacola is in the western part of the panhandle.

That is Grayton Beach end of August. Grayton is between Destin, FL and Panama City Beach, FL. It is.. well was  beautiful. I am desperately trying to get pics of the after because I have a couple of condos 10 miles east of that beach. Here's a pic

Pensacola Florida is known for having some of the whitest sand in the world. Most of your major inland water parks that bring in sand for the realistic "beach" look get it from P'cola. Lake Lanier islands here brought in millions of pounds of it for their beach. Water is warm beaches are very wide and beautiful sand.

Beaches WERE wide. Not looking good from the reports I've read.

They will come back. May be dirty for a while but the sand is natural there.

I want to be there helping right now but our company has not been askedfor some reason, I heard something in our contract stopped florida power from asking us Consumers power to help. I would think differences would be put aside to get a job done in the safest and fastest mannor. Good luck.

I was at the gulf one year at Christmas and someone took a picture of me at sunset and I had a coat on and everyone who saw the picture thought I was standing in the snow !, :) the gulf beaches used to be a nice secret place nobody knew about, it's getting built up too quickly now,

Yup, a couple of years ago Mrs and I made pics of the boys and a "snow man" on the beach for Christmas cards. It was August and the snow man was a sand man. Awsome beaches.

Very Very Sad. A real good friend of mine is from Destin. Last year for Labor day weekend we flew down there into pensicola and drove down to Destin ( the red neck riverera). I could not belive how friendly everyone was and how beautiful the place is and the food was great. I grew up in socal and let me tell you our beaches are toilets compared to the emerald coast. I feel for all those peolple caught up in this and know that W will make sure they get what they need to rebuild.
It's funny how secret Destin is. I've never heard of it before meeeting my friend who was in AZ at the time I met him. I would like to buy some property there in Destin in the future. How much is a nice condo and how much does it rent for? It would be nice if the air fair was more affordable from Orange County or LAX to fly into Pensicola. It cost's us the same amount to fly to Hawaii.

In Destin a 2bd, 2ba condo in one of those highrises would be $500,000 to $700,000. Just east of Destin on Highway 30A where there are no highrises therefore much less population. Gulf front 2 bd / 2 ba condos are now going over $1,000,000. If you scroll up you can see pics of our complex and the beautiful beaches. Sure hope the beaches are still there :frown:

Ouch! That's worse than the prices here. I think i'll wait untill a down market. The property on the other side of the toll bridge is a lot more affordable right?
Do you know where June's Dunes resturaunt was?

Nope. Honestly, I don't even go into Destin. Too dang crowded!! Check out these websites and look at the house prices. Keep in mind most of these will not even be "beach front" Some not even on the same side of the road the beach is on!!

True, but an earthquake lasts for at most 10 seconds. And there is no stressful buildup to it. Granted in that 10 seconds there is possibly a ton of damage.

Actually, I think it's pretty cool. It's interesting, to say the least, to look down at the ground and actually see the shockwaves, the p and s waves if my Geology memory serves me right, coming towards you and the ground rippling.

No major damage up here in North Georgia, just some debris thats going to need cleaning up. We did loose power for most of the night but that was restored in time for me to be able to work this morning. Hey JBB, when RD is finished waxing your new boats can you send him up this way for some clean up detail?

Just realized my post was red x's so I fixed that. I just got back from a boat ride, a friends dock broke lose last night and was pinned up against the neighbor's dock, he couldn't get his boat out so I bought the wacker over to tow the dock back in place. Quite a bit of debris floating around but it's just an outboard so no big deal :p It's nice seeing the lake back to over full pool again. Always good to have lots of water going into the winter, it should mean we will be full all next year too.

It's 60ft deep out in front of my house so I'm hoping I will never be landlocked. My last house only had about 12ft so it was definitely hit or miss especially during the winter, one reason why we moved :)

Nice, looks a lot better with the scoop. So when are you going to powdercoat the exhaust and carbs a nice soothing teal color to make HH happy? I see RD's been doing a good job with the polishing too.
