I think I'll be rolling up to Cottonwood for Lunch on Sunday. If anyone is interested, we can set a time to meet @ Katherine's mid/late-morning Sunday.
Afterward, I might head up to a favorite cove, a few miles north of Cottonwood.

Count me in Jason, however last time people went up to Cottonwood for lunch they were very disappointed. Breakfast is a much better idea in my opinion. They have very good biscuits and gravy :)

Good Call Tom, I know I like the Breakfast there, never had the lunch though. We can move it up a couple of hours, that will get people who are rolling home Sunday back to Katherine's a little earlier too.

I will be ready to roll with a few boats to head up there. What time you thinking? Maybe we should just deal with the time aspect of it on Saturday and come up with a time that works for everybody. Another benefit to the breakfast option is pretty much guaranteed flat water :)

Did someone say "Biscuits and Gravy"? We're there except there's only one tensy-weensy problem. If we launch at Katherine's at first light; head north at WOT; we're there for lunch! A late lunch! How far is it to Cottonwood from Katherine's? (Yeah; I've asked that before; and I'm askin' it again!)

20 miles...I think. Just a nice cruise is all it is. 30 minute take it easy cruise :)

What time should we meet @ Katherine's Bouyline (edge of the no wake area)???? Keep in mind that Sasturday might be a late/rough night for some people... http://op6c.com/forums/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif .... http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/cwm/3dlil/puke.gif
I'm going to start the bidding with a suggestion of 08:30am....

Be careful Disco! It might be nice in the AM, but if the wind comes up at all during the day, you will have a hell of a time getting back! I've been on the big part of that lake with 4-5' rollers and white caps. It's no fun...

I've gotta talk to Deb, but this sounds fun. Breakfast at Cottonwood, gotta love it.
disco_charger, take what Xclutchboy725 says as fact. We used to have a 19' runabout. We were South of the Basin (big o wide part) with a group in a houseboat, took a day trip to Willow Beach (beautiful ride) and headed back. We hit Cottonwood on the way and took off to our houseboat. No wind so far...
When we hit the Basin, all hell broke loose. The waves were crashing over our bow and the kids and the women folk were cryin (well, not actually crying, but you get the picture). It was a miserable trip back. Unless you can be assured of no wind and wave action I would try to hitch a ride in a bigger boat with more freeboard. IMO

Hey Jeff, good seeing you this weekend!!!
Jeff is correct, it is possible that the main bady of the lake will not be friendly, esp on the way back down. I suggest the smaller/lower-profile boaters hitch rides with the their deeper-v friends OR if they want to play at Cottonwood and north all day, they can tow up there from Laughlin. It's about a 45minute tow if I remember right.

Brian....will be good to see you and Tanya again. Yes, the basin can get very rough if the winds pick up. I have been there in the old 23 footer and had to find a cove and ride it out. You DO NOT want to get caught in the middle of the lake with winds blowing.
I would suggest that if the winds are 10MPH or less than you are good to go. If it is any more than that I would advise against trying it in your jet. I would be more than happy to take you and Tanya if my boat is not full. At this point I am probably going to have at least 8 people on board :(
Someone step up and offer their spare seats to Brian and Tanya for the breakfast ride. He will bring all the cheetos you can eat....lol Good people and experienced boaters which will help make your ride a lot easier.

Thats when it is just getting fun....lol Seriously, you are correct XC...The new SW handles about a 3 foot chop pretty well but I have not been thru there with anything bigger than that. It can/will take down a boat very quick. If you get in that situation you have to head to a cove and wait it out. Make sure you got lots of drinks and tunes. It may be a long wait :)

Brian won't be bringing his better looking half. :( He knows there's always a seat for him in my boat. A rough count puts 7 total people in my boat, including him, but I have not confirmed with any of those people if they'll be riding with me or not. 7 total is the most I want to take on this type of a run.
Once I confirm those I am counting I may be able replace them with others. If people are willing to rideshare, I'm pretty sure we'll have room for most everyone who wants to go. We'll see though....

See you're missing the goal here! We will be eating as much Biscuits and Gravy as possible, then hitting the main basin in heavy chop to see who pukes first!!! http://smilies.jeeptalk.org/contrib/edoom/throwup.gif It'll be good times!!! :D
Seriously though, I guess to some extent we'll all be playing it by ear. Should the conditions be very bad, we'll be Casino Buffeting it fo shizzle. But we don't plan for the worst, we plan for the best, this is OP6!!! ;)

My manager will be at the Advantage Regatta (somehow he has seniority on the day off thing  )
I'm gonna try and pull the sunday morning thing, but I have no crew at this point, so either I need a boat to ride in or I need a crew and I'll bring mine down. Takers?

We've got some friends from out of town (out of my town anyway) that are joining us for the OP, and I'm not sure what thier schedule is, but I'm sure Deb and I are up for breakfast at Cottonwood. I've gotta check into this tonight.

I've been doing some thinkin'...Since I'm stayin' in Laughlin, I may just go back to Mo-Choppy and meet you all for the breakfast dealio.
The water level on the river has been really low lately which means I'd probably have to lauch at Park Moabi.
Dan, it's just me and Mrs. DHO, so i'll have plenty of room if you want a ride.
