So I don't know if you have checked out VW lately but I got to check out a TDI diesel Jetta and it is BAD ****IN ASS. seriously handles like an M3 ( well maybe not THAT good) but very impressive, then I found out it gets 46 mpg on the highway! If I wasn't going to bring my Stealth back online I would buy one of those in a heartbeat. Only 22K!

The Touareg TDI (twin turbo V10 diesel, 310hp, 550 lb/ft of torque) and the Jetta TDI are both badass cars, I've been lucky enough to get seat time in both. I just picked up my bright red R32 today, and so far its freekin awesome... handles like a go kart. I haven't taken it through a canyon yet, but that's on the schedule for Friday!

I guess my 52' beetle w/25 hp motor won't keep up. Love all my vintage vw's. By the way, vw stock is a hot tip right now. Read in hot vw's recently the r32 w/ mods was 3.9 0-60, thats quicker than all the f,p,v,etc. at about 38k. Right on German tech's. Robert :eat:

For all the Duramax crowd... That new VW Touareg V10 Deisel does 0-60 in 7 seconds :jawdrop: !!! And gets 25 MPG. Problem is they start at $60,000 +

I've got a 66 VW Bug, and a 01 Jetta Wolfburg ed. with the 1.8 Turbo. Love them both. Jetta is my daily driver and it is fast as hell and fun to drive. Plus for the money you cant go wrong. I want an R32 in the worst way, those things are insane! VW is doing some very cool things right now. That Phaeton is sweet but not for the money! If I was spending 80K on a luxery car it would be an 745 or an A8. Still a very nice car though.

We just bought a Toureg V-8. Absolutely impressed with what VW has done lately. Their only shortcoming though is Nav electronics still isn't up to par with the Japanese though. Pulled my 26' around Havasu with it, launched , etc. VERY IMPRESSIVE

Actually VW followed Subaru and then Mitsubishi in this market.

Ive got a new Jetta 1.8 Turbo motor with the tiptronic trani and its a blast to drive! It gets great gas mileage and all the little stuff that VW is putting out on these cars now are very equivalent to the BMW 3 series, for much cheaper.
Not sure on the HP and all that manly fun stuff, but Im thinking me and the hubby are going to have to have some VW vs. Ford Diesel turbo races! :D :D

Actually VW has been making bad a$$ little GTI's since the early 80's. I'd push a VW before I drove a Subaru. Those new Subaru's are fast as hell, but ugly and they could never touch the quality of a German autmobile.

I was refering to the AWD market.
I used to own a 69 bug and an 88 Scirocco. Loved them both.
Once VW started building their cars in Mexico they went to shit.My brother bought an 01 GTI loaded and got rid of it 2 months later. Plagued with problems.
Subaru can't touch the quality of a German car, but sure as hell is a stronger better built car than a Mexican VW.
Just my opininon and did not mean to hijack.
The diesel Toureg is bitchin'.

Ive had my Passat since may of 00 and the only problem its ever had was the MAS going out twice. VW was good about taking care of us though. Now I have 134000 miles on it and it still runs just as good as it did the day I brought it home. Its the 1.8t with 5 speed!

The 1.8t with a 5speed is the way to go. My sister in law had the same car, but with Auto.

Most VW's are made in Mexico or Brazil. There are only a couple of cars that still come out of Wolfsburg. Passat and the Toureg are 2 that are still German built

I'm getting a little less than that, but I drive it like a racecar too. The problem as I see it, is they won't pull any boat that I'd want to put behind it. I know they're rated to tow an obscene amount, but they look a little short and narrow to hook up anything over 21' to. Just my take. :D

Yep, don't know that I'd pull anything over 23 feet myself.
