Procharger over a Whipple...any particular reasons?

Thank's for all the good comments. I built a 540 Tall Deck BBC for the boat with closed cooling and Holley EFI. Right now it's on the engine but have plans for a procharger in the future. So it's a blower engine without the blower for right now. But even at that it puts out 570HP and 615LBTQ on 8.5 compression. This weekend I need to try out a prop, starting with a 26, may end up with a 28. The hardest part about building the boat was picking out the gel-cote. If you see me around stop by and say hi. And a big thank you to Barry @ Shockwave, Tom and Eddie @ Eddie Marine and Fred Jr. @ IMCO.
you should come to ALMOST DAM RUN OCTOBER 8-9 AT LAKE MOHAVE. you can meet alot of peeps

I'd love to and have been lookin forward to do that trip since Frenchie posted the pic of his trip, but i'll be on vacation with the wife that weekend. I'm sure i'll meet up with you all sometime soon. I purpose built this boat for the ocean and am really lookin forward to those trip's too.

If you can get the procharger to work right with your efi it's actually a better way to make lot's of hp and tq without breakin your drive. The tq curve on the whipple starts at a low rpm just as all root type blowers. On my engine that would mean 850 lbstq at 2500rpm or so and tq like that is what breaks your drive. The procharger works much like a turbo and comes in with the rpm of the engine and has a softer transition from little boost to full boost.
Plus the procharger is capable of much more efficent power and cooler air temps by design. Whipples are great and i'm not bad mouthin them, there are just two trains of thought here on blowers and that is mine. When i'm ready to make the change i'll take my engine out, install the blower and have it dyno'd to create the best fuel map and ignition curve. I think this is where most peep's go wrong on their installs. Dyno time is about 650 bucks and is worth every penny when you consider you already spent boo coo bucks on the engine and blower. Just like my engine now, it has the Holley efi and has been dyno'd and start's right up just like a new car. Just wait untill you hear this thing, it sounds bad ass.
Hoping to hear it SUNDAY :D

I was wondering about the instant boost from a Whipple as opposed to a gradual boost from a centrifugal Procharger. I was thinking along the same lines...gradual may be better for longevity. I'm sure driving style has a lot to do with it. Anyway, I have some homework to do before doing anything.
Looking forward to 'hearing' that badboy on Sunday. We'll be launching out of Moabi and heading south.
