Call AZ. dept. of Game and Fish, yes Game and fish not fish and game and ask for the form. 602-942-3000

There are not any forms you need to fill out for California. Just obtain the Az forms and they will mail the registration card once you pay the fees.

A little off topic but kind of on topic.
A couple weeks ago my neighbor was driving home from havasu with his sea-doos behind him. He got pulled over by a CHP officer for going 60 mph. No biggie he was speeding. The cop got pissed off about his attitude and said, "no you were going 65." And changed it on the ticket, after it was signed.
The cop then wrote him a ticket for having a trailer that was registered in AZ in CA. He said that it was illegal. He said I have a residence there and the cop said it was still "illegal to transport it into another state." He is going to fight it.
So, anyone know the law on it. Legal or illegal?

I'm pretty sure as a Ca. resident even though the boat is registered in Az., the trailer must have Ca. plates. The 65mph sounds like a roll-job

I'm sure boatcop will elaborate - but yup, the cop is right.
I think doing the same for cars in a misdemeanor (arrestable) offense in Cali - boatcop?

And it's not luxury tax - it's your county personal property tax. Some counties are getting hip to the AZ/havasu/Cali thing.
Do a search, this topic has been discussed numerous times. :)

The boat can be registered in AZ but the trailer is what hits the pavement so make sure it is registered in Cali. Permanent plates and no tax. As far as the boat you may have to prove to your county assessor that the boat is used primarily in Az and not in Cali. A residence there will do it, storage there should do it, and if your lucky and sweet talk the clerk a simple az registration will do it.

the CHPS will be all over you if you have a Calif truck towing an AZ boat trailer. I have been there

Agree with SYA, trailer has to match the tow vehicle in Cali.

Get it done before the end of this year or will will be paynig the tax on the boat for 2005. Also, I believe that you need to notify the state of CA that the vehicle is out of state, otherwise you will be paying the tax in 2005.
