Clownpuncher I didn't know I was stoppin by. I was in the neighborhood for dinner the night before(Flemmings) stayed the night at the Marriot and then cruised by your place for lunch. I definitely take you up on the beer my next time out.
As far as Nessyburger goes (fallbrook/15 fwy) they suck. :yuk: Its a big burger, but I like seasoning on my burgers. (ketchup is not seasoning in my book) They make a big tasteless burger.

Stands alone ! I bought a twelve by twelve once (animal style of course) and there is nothing like twelve pieces of meat and twenty four pieces of cheese in between all the rest of it's glory perfectly wraped in paper and ever so gently laid on its side in it's own box. With fries and a large coke (easy ice).
That's why I go there and not some disgusto-burger joint . Besides , it doesn't make you feel like you have an oil spill in your gut.

I'm a little put off by all the votes for In-n-Out burger. They're certainly very good, as far as fast food goes, but they are not a gourmet burger. They're about 100 times better than McDonald's, but hardly a world class burger.

In Concord, it's Diggers Diner, Willow Pass and Farm Bureau. Worth a stop on your way to the Delta. Try the Coffin burger. (The founder, Digger Dave, is the "excavation supervisor" at Memory Gardens in town - don't worry, he doesn't cook at the Diner) Parking can be tight if you're towing, but nice boats, cars and bikes are always welcome with their owners.
The neighborhood is sketchy, but, if you're in San Francisco, try Original Joe's on Taylor St for the cheeseburger. About half a pound, charcoal broiled, on hollowed out sourdough, with sauteed onions. You can add mustard and ketchup, but you don't have to. Hard to finish the fries with this one. Old-school SF restaurant, old-school waiters, old-school tuxedos. Excellent martinis...
In So Cal, it's been a long time, but I remember I did like Tommy's.

Just to make it equitable......
Pope's in Palm Springs used to sell great hangover burgers. Don't know if they still do cause I don't go there anymore. They went from topless to fully nude dancers. No alcohol.
We were on a company retreat one year at Palm Desert Marriott and wanted to split and go to a strip club. My buddy said if we find a used car lot,we will find a strip club. Low and behold, Pope's, right next to a used car dealership. Worst club I have ever been in. Some chick fell off the pole from the top and she slammed down on the stage. Almost knocked her out. Worst club but a fun time.

Best cheap burger... Tuckers.. Two fer .29ct.(back when i was a kid) In Fond Du Lac Wisconsin. You still cant beat it for the money..Gillies is just down the street with a damn good one also, but more money.. Best burger money be damned.. Ruby Tuesday, Ground up HIGH dollar steak and made into a burger.. I think its better to pay a bit more and just get the steak;) Best home made.... MY wife hand pats them with bacon, fine grated cheddar cheese, and a little onion, (with like 11 herbs and spices:D ) So them are only available at my house...

Favorite is my own. 1/2 pounder seasoned just so. My 15 YO stepson named it the "Carcass" burger. He begs for them.
#2? The Arctic Roadrunner, 2 locations in Anchorage. Been in Biz for like 40 years.
Fast food I'll take a Carls Jr. first.
