Wow very nice....Just get rid of that guy Hernando and maybe I would even consider looking at it in person....Beautiful boat!!!...This is pretty exciting this is going to be great for the deck boat enthusiast. I am sure other builder will follow suit with with this style of deckboats than the same style that Conquest,Eliminator, aftershock uses...Good Job Cobra on the styling of the boat.

the "artist-rendered" picture of that boat sure looks pretty close to the
Trident boat.......... walk-way around motor box, seating in front, then
a small deck area, lotsa storage, biggest diff I notice is only a driver cuddy
area on Trident, and 2 wind screens on this boat.......... looks nice...
guess the people are wanting the power-speed of a cat, but with the
seating/storage of a deckboat; without it looking like a deckboat.......

Don't mean to rain on folks parades, but I think it is only a matter of time the Party Cat's get labeled cats....just a few more published tests with real power and real speeds will open the Insurer's eyes to them being efficient and almost as fast as cats with the same power...

I agree with mbrown. just a matter of time before insurance companies stop looking at decks as pontoons. They will start asking new questions like does it have a blender??? (this will translate to do you drink n drive on your boat?)
Insurance companies suck!

I stopped at Cobra about 3 months ago and they took me out and showed me the plug also, I was very impressed with it. Maybe there will be 2 in the Nashville area soon. Might have to get mine with the dual jet drive set up for those shallow lakes out there. :D

Dual jet sounds like a Trident setup...
Oh c'mon... If they put a dual jet setup in one, that isn't "copying" trident in anyway shape or form.. Trident didn't invent the dual jet, and they aren't the 1st guys to put one in a boat. Just happens that the trident hull was specifically designed for the dual jet to work with it, which is one of their claims to fame. But to say becuase another mfg is might possibly use a dual jet in a deckboat is copying a trident.. well I find that to be a bit of a stretch. Personally I don't think they'd put a dual jet in that thing anyways if they want any real #'s out of it.
When I first saw the art work for this boat, I thought.. Damn they really are copying Tridents deal.. But seeing that hull in a picture.. That thing doesn't look anything like the Trident that I've seen. They are both nice looking boats, and I'm sure they will both do well.. I already know which one I'd buy though. ;)

Was'nt Rob King involved with the design of the Ultra, Cobra and Trident? Could explain the similarities in all three!

FYI... The bottom that would accept and work well with a dual-drive jet in a 8-9' wide tunnel hull is VERY protected by patents. In order to approximate anything remotely like a hull that would work with a dual drive, or the proportions neccessary to install a unit in a tunnel would be encroaching on our patent, so the likelyhood of a deckboat anytime soon with a sponson deep enough in the rear to take the dual drive is unlikely.
So, by this rationale, to put one in would require a similar bottom, and would be copying.
Bitchin looking boat BTW... I love competition. :D

Absolutely. Rob was the stylist for the Revolution, and tooled the Shadow and the Cobra primarily. He is talented and visionary with regard to shapes and proportions. It is no accident they have similar "feel" visually. As has been noted, the boat appears not to share any real features with the Trident or the Shadow, and will likely be, as mentioned, a reworked Venom with extra seating.
Different boats... WAY different companies. ;)

That is by far one of the sweetest looking deck Boat I've seen!! what is the base price on this baby??

NashvilleBound
10-01-2004, 03:50 AM
Talked to Hernando last night and he said the BASE is $89,900 and thats with the 496 mag. Hard to tell at this point but I'm guessing its to rich for a poor boy like me. I did some preliminary numbers last night in my head with just the basics.... Motor upgrade @30k, Drive @14k, Tabs @1500, Steering @4k, Tower @5k, Stereo @5k, Besides all the other little stuff around $1000 x5 or 6...that puts me right around $140,000 that is so rediculous I am without words...but I'm going to find them. I could buy the 29 foot E-ticket with twin 525's for less than that. Somethings just not right. But I am sure with the economy the way it is they will be booked solid on orders. I guess it just sucks to be me....... :notam: :notam:

Its easy to build a great boat that costs a bunch.
Its a whole lot harder to build a great boat thats affordable.
And I do agree with you, the Cobra "Looks" absolutly drop dead gorgious.
Enough so that I contacted the designer to talk about getting some help on ours to make it look as nice....

for not much more I'd rather have the E-ticket that was in that deckboat shoot-out over the summer. Twin 496's with XR drives and the twin canopies, it was a sweet looking boat. I think it was like 110K if I'm not mistaken.
