I seems that for the ocean bigger is always bigger but since i want to go to the river also what size should be considered to big, Now i know there are 40' plus running out there but it must be a pain to handle in tight places.
The biggest boat i have had is a 21' so my new one will take some getting use to.
Since i would like to use mine in the ocean i have been considering Cigarettes they have a 30' 35' 38' and even though they are a lot more money they seem to hold there value.
I wish the boat show was sooner but what the heck by then i should have a good idea what boats to check out.

For ocean use, the bigger the better. The extra weight really smooths out the ride.
The down side to going big is when you want o go play @ havasu, you have to drag the monster across the desert. And then it takes a crew to get it in and out of the water, slips, the sandbar, forget about the channel (legally to long) etc.

I was thinking more along the lines of this boat.http://www.premiercars.com/details.php?Stock_Number=P2635
I don't want an ex raceboat and its cheaper
but how about this one which might be the best of both worlds

Just becuase it is big bucks does not mean that in the long run it will be more expensive. Sometimes getting higher end products that hold there value are cheaper. i know that boats in general are money pits but if a 200k cigs holds its value it might be cheaper to own one than say a 100k Commander and since i want to use it in the ocean i assume the cig would hold up better as well as ride better.

Go with a 26-28 footer....you will be happy in open water and river types.

H2O where are you at in Castaic? We are up off of Hillcrest. Personally since we always go to many dif lakes and rivers, and also do not go in the ocean I always thought 25 or 26 to be the limit. Still easy to tow, park and manuever in tight places. Just my .02.

I wouldn't even consider the Mistake for the price they WERE asking ... I believe it's sold.
The Top Gun is sweet .... however, those 500EFI's will get you about 72 mph ... the 525EFI's in my boat will take you to the land of 92 mph :) BIG BIG BIG difference !

I'm at the top of hillcrest on Cordoba pl. When i started looking i was planning on 26 to 28 then saw the 30 kachina and whats another 2 feet, then there is the 32' Sunsation so on and on and after checking out this and other forums i saw the cigs and you have to admit they are some cool looking boats.

You got that right .... You really don't know how much a boat cost you until you sell it. There are some Cigs out there that will cost you less than a new Commander, Kachina, Sunsation, etc. over 2-5 years

So if 36' is the limit isn't there a 35' Cigarette might just be the right size?
