Last summer a moose wandered into town and ended up in Wascana Lake (about two blocks from my house). The city assembled a crew of about 75 people to try to lift it from the water and release it outside of town. It didn't work, to say the least, but once they got the moose untangled from the ropes and belts they were trying to lift it with, it trotted out of town on it's own power.
The coolest thing was that we were hosting some sort of convention and there were a bunch of Japanese tourists walking the shores of the lake. They were all bug-eyed and awed at the ungainly beast.
Those buggers will charge and head butt people if they get scared. They don't kill people but they'll ruin your day.
