That would be exactly how they do it. They stand on the dock near the stern of the boat (the distance is not established, and varies with every test), and meter it. Real scientific huh!!!

That's funny right there, I don't care who your are.
Don't worry about the gel HDD, if you still have your boat in 10 years, you'll be stoked to see others like it.
Whenever we see someone with gel like our old '93, we think it's great.

Ya know, I was just thinking...why doesn't someone send this picture to the Authorities so they can see how they are enforcing the noise right by the laws of the State :220v:

I think the real problem is that they can't afford a 50ft tape measure. And those little short dicked bastards are terrible at judging distance. I heard they are lucky if they don't pee on their own shoes. :D

Aren't you tough... Do you think that poor guy is the one that is causing us such a hard time? It's just his job. I'm sure he could really care less about the noise issues. The ramp guys have always been decent to me. (my boat isn't all that loud though).
P.S. That ramp guy would probably make you his bitc*!!!!!
I hope you can take a joke...

What's truly interesting is that given how un-crowded the place is they could have easily performed the test in the proper manner on that boat.

I was there last Tue/Wed and was literally the only boat launching or retrieving there, yet, I was instructed to go to lane 1 and do the dance for them. We passed...although the funny thing is, I think my truck with it's diesel straight piped exhaust (no muffie) was louder than any boat they could have out there. I purposely goosed the truck while I was pulling the trailer out (acted as if it was slipping :D ) and it was pretty loud...the ramp ranger didn't look my way at all.
I guess it's just an exhaust/boat issue versus all the other possible sources of noise. :hammerhea

According to the letter from the marina to the stae of AZ, their employees are subjected to loud motors all day, causing them potential hearing injuries. If that was the true case, they should also be checking for loud launch vehicles!!!

if they're worried about high noise at the marina, they should be using hearing
protection....

Exactly!!! 29 cents worth of foam earplugs and they would have all the launching revenue back. They could then afford to buy some Zoloft for their cranky employees, and buy a steak dinner for thenice ones.

I disagree....you can't get 50' away from ALL structures within the confines of the LH Marina. Test is invalid unless no structure is nearby. Jeffie's own letter to the state said the ramp is 90' wide...that means ... 90÷2=45 feet is the farthest you can get away from any structure...right?

True. What I was getting at was that the test could have been more consistent with the law in the picture above.
