I'm thinking that a while back someone posted that he was charging around $1K per foot. So $15K doesn't seem outrageous for a deck boat.

He painted my old flatbottom. That was done before I bought the boat. I paid less for the entier boat then the paint job cost. It sure was bitchen!
But.........don't just plunk your coin down without talking to Billy B first. His work is second to none (so's Vales)

I would first like to thank SD, Mike F, and haulina29 for there nice comments towards my work. 2nd...i'd be the first one to tell you that Dick does a really nice job and i'm sure you'd be more then satisfied when he got done. The thing that people don't realize when there price shopping is how much time goes into a custom paint job. I would almost guarantee anyone of you that if you spent everyday with your project from start to finish you'd see it in a whole different light. I spent 3hrs today on just two lines that I added to a completed layout just thinking that it might look better. When I stood back and looked at the finished product it just didn't grab me so I ripped it all off. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ right down the -hitter., and the customer will never know the difference. When a painter is givin a free hand it diffenetly ends up costing the painter lots of free hours especially if he really gets into it, and the lucky owner ends up with a real nice piece. Bottom line you get what you pay for.

There is also some talent that has not been explored here that has crawled around on larger boats and might be able to make your dream a reality! Todd Griggs of TRG fiberglass can nearly do anything w/ paint. I'd give him a call, go over and talk to him and let him show you some of his work personally. :D

Billie....you forgot to mention the EVER increasing price of the actual product! Im pretty sure House of Kolor, PPG, Valspar, ect are slipping crack into there paint, its the only thing that makes the price make sense to me! All of these paints, clears, reducers, ect are CRAZY expensive! I personally have over $1500.00 in just paint on the new Limo golfcart I did, I quoted a guy recently 2500.00 to paint his cart, and he looked at me like I was nuts. Its funny MOST people have no idea what it takes time wise and actual cost to do a custom paintjob. VERY impressed by your work BTW Billie.....Toby

I think they are both pretty comparable myself. Both would lay down a show winning paint job with out a doubt.
But I like to give back to the people who give to me (or other in on this site). Hop down a few forums to the "How To" forum and see who's giving the FREE advice to all the do it yourselfers. That's the guy I would want to spend my money with.
And as MikeF said, Todd Griggs is a good egg too.

I spoke to Vale about painting my new boat and thought about going that way. I have seen a few bigger boats that he has done and they really stand out. In the end I opted to stick with gelcoat graphics for cost reasons, but it was definitely tempting to go with paint.. There is a lot more you can do with paint compared to gelcoat, but it gets a little pricey.

Another plus to getting Billy's paint, you get to intone in that flat lining voice from the announcer on the River rats video. "Paint job by B i l ly B".

Jerry, the voice over on RiverRats is a little "monotone"
I'd be more then happy to volunteer a little humour up in a video for ya if your seriously looking for another narrator. :D
As far as the paint goes... While we may disagree on something, and last I heard he was still m'fering me up oneside and down the other.. Billy does some of the nicest paint jobs I've seen. I'll end up going else where for obvious reasons if I ever need paint, but disagreements aside the work is quality and the prices are fair, even if ya get a little sticker shock on the front end. Painting a boat is alot of work.
Overall though, if I had cubic dollars and history aside I would use him.
Circumstances factored in, I'd use Vale if I was rich n famous..
Financial factored in, TRG is my one stop shop. ;) :D I'm exceptionally happy with the work they did for me, and the price I paid for it. :)
