Whats the faster way to Havasu? Assuming traffic is not an issue and I am coming on the 210 from Pasadena. Is the 10 to Desert center faster or the 40?

I normally leave downtown LA I take the 10fwy east to the 177 which turns in to rice road. It is 4 hours give or take no traffic
Yesterday I drove the 101 to the 170 to the 5 to the 14 to the 58 to the 40 and it took 5 hours 45 min, No traffic..... and was 50 miles longer
You could not pay me to ever even consider the 15 freeway at anytime

If you come thru parker... there is road construction as you leave parker and head to Havasu... it almost done - the road is good but the Local Police/Sheriffs are watching carefully - speed limit is 35 in construction zone.. and they are checking.. got pulled over at 11:30 last nite.. lucky i am a quick witted, smooth talking old dude to I did not get a ticket

The 177 is desert center right. I have heard that way is shorter milage but takes longer. Plus that 10 fwy just seems to never end for some reason. Plus my girl has agreed to give me RH for every Hwy we hit so now I'm thinking I will take the 210 to the 30 to the 330 to the 18 to the 247 to the 15 to the 40 to the 95.

From where you are at, the 210 to the 15 to the 40 would be the fastest way. I take the 605 to the 210, to the 15, to the 40 and make it to Havi under 4 hours when there is no traffic. This of course is doing between 75-80mph, oh, and I don't tow.

Thanks. I think that is the best way for me.

I am inj the same area as you. 210 to 15 to 40 is the fastest with no traffic by about 10 minutes. Dessert Center (Rice Road) is next fastest. 15 always seems to be worse traffic. Also if towing a large boat, more uphill on the 15

The 15 Fwy to the 40 is the best way that we have found. 4:15 to Murrieta going 75mph.

Too much traffic on the 15 fwy on Friday nights. We take 10 to Rice Road.

Is the 10 to Desert center faster or the 40?From Yorba Linda leaving at 2:00 P.M. we take 91 to University off ramp in Riverside for 2-3 miles and get on the 60 to Blythe and then 90 more miles to Havasu 4 1/2 to 5 hrs. On the way home on Sun at 5:00 P.M. 40 to 15 4 hrs max. Used to do rice road, not worth the trouble.

First step is to move away from the LA Area. Then its all down hill :)

Rice Road....and I was gonna suggest that "the fastest way to Havasu" was to move there, but with the deal that "your girl" is givin' ya; MAY I SUGGEST THAT YA MOVE TO MIAMI AND DRIVE TO HAVASU EVERY WEEKEND? VIA PORTLAND, ME; CORPUS CHRISTI, TX; BUTTE, MT; ALBUQUERQUE, NM; SEATTLE, WA; LOS ANGELES, CA; AND EHRENBERG, AZ. I knew that I could. It's definitely not the fastest, but who cares!

To me that is the trick to make it a reasonable drive time. You have to get out of LA before the traffic hits. Both the last trip have blown because I got caught in traffic.

Definitely 210 - 15 - 40 expcept on Friday afternoons. The road from Parker to Havasu takes too long and the 50 patrol that area like a hawk.

210 Cessna 210 1:20 of course long beach to parker is 3:45 if you leave at 8pm and use fast track 22-91-60-10-29palms-rice traffic runs at 80mph Drive safe....................

As many of you already know, it gets much worse even later but after about 2:30 PM on a friday Interstate 15 is a parking lot from at least the Summit exit north of the 210 all the way stop and go to Devore then it gets better from there on. I should know, I live in Devore and have seen many of you cut through my community on Devore road only to get back on the 15 freeway north at the Kenwood onramp. At least I live where the traffic jam begins and ends so I just hop on the freeway and I am good to go all the way to the 40 east. The problem that is causing the traffic jam could be fixed almost entirely if Cal Trans would add some transition lanes and fix that stupid fast lane merge from the 215 north as it combines into the 15 north. Those 2 problems are the death blow to that freeway every friday afternoon and evening, oh and not to mention all the extra people that are going to vegas and the tour buses.

Why worry about a few minutes, or even an hour, when traveling? C'mon, half the fun is getting there, slow down, take your time, see things you've never seen before because you were to busy hauling ass. I go back and forth to BHC quite often, and have found it is eaiser to just kick back and cruise. I mix the route between the highways mentioned, and even use the 14 all the way to the 58, thru Mojave to Barstow, just to vary the sceenery. The Pearblossom Rd gets old quickly, same thing mile after mile, as does the 40 from Barstow to Needles, but the 10 seems way more congested, endless cities for miles.......Again, slow down, quit worrying about a few minutes, get better gas mileage, no speeding tickets, and enjoy the trip, not just the destination. BTW, if you have a DD, stop at the "Office" just east of Barstow off the south side of the 40,( you'll have to double back from the next exit) and try the "Labatomomy bach" beer.............MP

The mistake was the 58...take Pearblossom Highway to the 18 which turns into Palmdale Road. 30 miles shorter. Then you have 1/2 drive on the 15 from Victorville to Barstow and the I-40. We take that route every other Thursday night from Valencia and it takes us 4-1/2 hours doorstep to doorstep.

I echo Moneypitts sentiment.
My worry use to be get there asap friday eves....now its get there intact and safe. A very cool AZCHP stopped me on the 95 just approaching SARA park haulin' ass(I came up behind him WAY fast). This was close to midnite. So he walks up and sees us Califorians clean and sober racing to get into town....then he points at the lake and says, "it'll be here in the morning, please slow down and drive safely, have a nice evening :) ". Made me think, and I did the math. Whats an extra 30 minutes??? I ain't boatin' til tomorrow anyway  Ever since its rational driving and no real ticket worries.

4 or 5 hrs who cares and as far as rice road that is totally the wrong way

From the San Diego area: Has anyone tried 8 to AZ95? I thought about it, but didn't know if it was slow-and-go through small cities on the 95, anyone?

The ones driving the 8 will usually take the 111 north to 78 east thru Glamis into Blythe...from there some take the Erinburg route, others go to Quartzite(az95) into Parker etc....
