This was reported 2 hours ago by the Associated Press. This is certainly going to b a $hit storm. I wonder if Germany and France will side with the terrorist when they start dropping nuclear bombs?

TEHRAN, Iran - The president of Iran again lashed out at Israel on Friday and said it was "heading toward annihilation," just days after Tehran raised fears about its nuclear activities by saying it successfully enriched uranium for the first time.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Israel a "permanent threat" to the Middle East that will "soon" be liberated. He also appeared to again question whether the Holocaust really happened.
"Like it or not, the Zionist regime is heading toward annihilation," Ahmadinejad said at the opening of a conference in support of the Palestinians. "The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm."
Ahmadinejad provoked a world outcry in October when he said Israel should be "wiped off the map."

1) Israel had launched air strikes before against targets like this in other countries in the 1980's. In the gulf war we had to "convince" Israel to refrain from launching airstrikes against Iraq SCUD's being launched at them.
I bet the U.S. is probably telling Israel right now to refrain from taking military action against Iran and that the U.S. will try to negotiate a resolution.
If we don't get a resolution, Israel WILL strike at Iran. (which will be sort of ironic & funny)
2) Israel already has nuclear weapons and submarines.
I bet they even have a nuclear submarine parked off Iran right now.

This shiat could get serious. Israel can take care of itself but they are a strategic partner to the U.S. so any trouble that results will suck the U.S. into the fray.

If Iran were to strike Israel, we will defend them. Bush has already stated as much, and this has been U.S. doctrin for along time. Same as when the Soviets were threatening Germany and we told them that a strike on Germany would be treated like a strike on America. I personally hope Iran gets nuked. I still remember the hostage situation when I was only 11 years old. I told my grandmother that I wanted to go to the middle east someday and kill muslims. Kind of ironic that it happened, but to bad it was Iraq and not Iran.

This is just to play off in the media and freak us out about that area of the world. Seems interesting that it is just weeks after that funny display they had all over the news of their weapons including a fast torpedo. Another month down the road, something else like this will come out of that area again in the form of news.
I highly doubt that they have the balls to launch a nuke, unless they had China in their corner ready to go. Then I would be frightened. But China isn't ready to take over the world. They will try to in the future, but not anytime in the next 2 years.

FYI, just rented a movie titled "Deterrence" with little known actor Kevin Pollock staring as the President, made in 1999 and set in the year 2008. If you switch Iran with Iraq and throw in Saddams son and nuclear war, well you get the idea. The bigger problem is that if they square off with nukes we back Isreal and we pull NATO with us. Pakistan and the Arabs back Iran and pull China and North Korea. Instant World War III. Don't take this news lightly. China and North korea are much tougher,stronger and more well trained and financed than the Soviets ever thought of being and they kept us tied up for over thirty years until Reagan outbluffed,out maneuvered and out spent the Soviets until the wall came down. This won't be that easy. The only thing we have going for us at the negotiating table is we owe China more money than we can pay back. They have been financing our war in Iraq.Plus we are their single largest export country. Walmart,Home Depot and Kmart comprise 40% of China's current export customers. That is a huge number. Hopefully they won't want to go to war with their biggest customer.

Iran is split between the more liberal majority and the hard-line religeous right. Many think that the hold the hard-liners have on the people is slipping and there could be a revolution. What the Iranian leadership would love is a preemptive strike by the U.S. or Israeli. This would incite the populace and create turmoil in the region.
They have been preaching that the U.S./Israeli conspirators are creating a crusade against the muslim world. Any attacks by us, upon Iran, will be used to further this cry of holy war against the invaders. They are radicals on a mission and do not use logic. To them, they have critical weaons and leadership concealed or protected against anything we can do to them. If we attack, the muslim people will unite and protect them as they use nuclear weapons to destroy Israel. Forget that many muslims would be destroyed too, they do not care. Then, as they believe, the U.S. and europe will fold under the pressure from the faithful and eventually, Iran and its followers will rule the world.
Many would say that this is crazy and I would be the first to agree. But look how close Hitler and Japan came to ruling the world. If Hitler had not made some crucial mistakes, England would have fallen and the war would probably lasted for decades more.
