I just wanted to know if any one knew what the part is use for at the end of my shut off valve at the gas tank. It's a aluminum hose fitting, barb fitting on one end 1/4 on the other end with a check ball in side.I seem to think its very restrictive in flow.Has any one seen this and taking them out a good idea.I want to run #8 lines.I have a bbc.Thank you

Sounds like a check valve of some sort. It is used to keep fuel from one tank from draining into the other, and vice versa. I don't see any other use for it.

You're probably talking about the anti-siphon valve. The ball check is designed to prevent gas from siphoning into your bilge in the event of a fuel line failure. I'm not sure if it's a Coast Guard requirement. You're right about restrictive- I've seen them seize up & ruin a weekend.
I removed mine when I went with steel braided lines & fittings.
