There is another part of the "Company" that works them. 12.33hrs/day for three days and once a month (4 weeks) they work 1 - 12hr day to make up the hours (total 160).
Every 4 months or so, a new shift sign up comes out by seniority....

I worked rotating 12 hour shifts for most of the past decade. 3 weeks of work, one week off. Actually came out to only working half of the year compared to a conventional 8 hour/5 day work week.
Here's how it goes: all shift are 6 - 6 .
E E E E.. off...off... D D D.. off...off... E E E.. off...off...D D D D... 8 day long change and then repeat rotation.

Currently 6pm to 645 am. Usually 315pm to 4am. Days off are on a bidding/seniority system each month. Singles (one one/one off) suck but don't happen often. I like the 4/10 much better.

We're unique here in AZ, in that Law Enforcement is required by state law to be compensated at time & a half for anything over 40 hours in a seven day period. It can either be paid or "comp" time. The Fed law that allows the time to be spread over a 4 week period doesn't apply.
This was a problem when I had to come up with a workable 12 hour schedule. What I decided on was a schedule were you work 48 hours the first week. Mon Tues & Fri Sat = 48 hours (pick up 12 hours "comp" 8X1.5=12)
2nd week Sun Wed Thurs (use 4 comp to make 40)
3rd week Tues Fri Sat (monday is covered by a "relief" shift, burn 4 more comp)
4th week Sun Wed Thurs (4 more comp)
Zeros out the comp time and the schedule starts all over again.
Any overtime worked in excess of the shift, like for late arrests, court, etc. is paid OT.
This gives everyone 2 weekends off a month. One a 3 day, and the other a 4 day. Shifts run from 8 pm to 8 am and vice versa.
It actually comes out to working 13 days a month. We've had it in effect for over a year, and so far everyone likes it.
Too bad my team and I can't take advantage of it. With boating primarily dome on the weekends, it doesn't work out for us. Although I do have them on 4/10s, which seems to work out.

Getting ready to start 6/12s for about 5 months. A couple of long weekends thrown in to give the crew a break. Beverly Hills area or close so I'm afraid the hours will be 8am to 8pm. Cant start construction work before 8am in that area. :yuk:

Fortunately, not at the moment. 3AM to 3:30 PM when I am, 5 days a week, maybe 6 or 7 depending on what supervision wants. Might last months at a time. I've been on 10's since August, 8's on weekends mostly, some 6's on Sundays.

Alternating 10 & 12's most every other week from 3:00pm till 1:00am or 3:00am for the past 5 years. I took a vacation day today and in two weeks I will be laid off for good, since they are closing the plant. Seems like I should be upset, but I can't wait for the 28th to get here. I get a decent severence package and I should be able to pay off all my bills except for my mortgage, so I in theory I could take the whole summer off...and I just might do that

Sun-Mon-Tues 6pm to 630 am with one 10 hour payback day a every 28 days. It's like having 5 days off a week, I stay up and do yard work on Wednesday and I don't have to be back at work until 6 pm on Sunday.

We work 3/12's either days (7am-7pm), nights (7pm-7am), or overlap (3pm to 3am). Days worked based on seniority. It's a 36 hour work week and we work one additional 12 hour day every 28 day cycle to make up some of the difference from a 40 hour week. Shifts are bid every november for the next year on two 6-month semesters (Jan-Jun and Jul-Dec).
