We went a few weeks ago and stayed at the Otter Inn.. It is nothing fancy, but clean and nice. It is one block behind Cannery Row walking distance to anything on CR!!!! Free parking at the hotel!!! We never drove anywhere once we arrived. Would suggest Culinary Academy for breakfast, Fish Hopper for dinner and Louies ???? was great for lunch... If no kids... The Whaling Station and The Old Bath House!!!! Hope this helps and have fun!!!!

Thank you! I know nothing is cheap there but have only been a couple times and the hubby is taking a scuba class next weekend.

not cheap but try the Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel. If you get the ocean view room with a fireplace, hubby may miss the scuba class ;)
