Great hotel-you should have a great time.
Try Roy's in the shopping center in front of the hotel.

HardRock in Kailua/Kona has great views of sunset and people watching on the streets below...right next to sand volleyball court.
Buy your gasoline south of Kailua for the best prices...everywhere else is priced for the tourists.
If you do any grocery shopping don't use Safeway, again, tourist prices...we shopped at the ATK store on Kamehameha III road near the south end of Kailua.....more authentic food and prices...... Thats in the Shopping mall with the green roofs.
If you've never been to that island do yourself a favor and tour Volcano's National Park and drive the loop making all the stops, you won't regret it.
Have a great time....We really love that island.

We own a condo over there and go over twice a year at least. You'll have a good time. It's not as crowded/touristy as some of the other islands. Ziggy gives good advice, he's right on. Except it's the "KTA" store and it's in Keaho at the south end of Kona. :D

I was there a year ago - for groceries, buy steaks and fresh fish at Costco (along with all of the other stuff we all buy there) - great selection and prices.
Also buy your macadamia nuts there and hawaiian shirts.....

If you are reffering to the Hilton Waikaloa that is North of Kona we stayed there a couple of years ago. It is an amazing hotel. you will like it.
