Wow.......tornado warning issued just now (10:30pm) for Catalina/Avalon. Say it's brewing 9 miles off the coast!

Nope.......they stated tornado. Similar to funnel cloud, but they said it was too big to be classified as a funnel cloud.

What do you expect its LA news weather casters, they wouldnt know a hurricane if it hit them and killed them....
if its on the water its a Cyclone on this coast...

No water spouts, or water funnels...no tornado on the water, no huricane. The doppler radar indicated there were conditions likely to spawn a tornado. Thunder cell rotating in the upper atmosphere, which if observed in the midwest would create tornado warnings. It was still over water, but not doing anything on the surface.... Now its over land and the warnings are preceeding the system......MP
PS cool site..abc7.com, then scroll down to doppler radar, choose your area, click on it and put it in motion.....

Only in LA would they assign most the news crew and devote half the newscasts to a rain storm that would be pretty much an average occurance or even lighter than average in most the rest the country. It is lame.
