I want to get the kids some quads for the winter time in Havasu. Two boys, 12 and 6 years old. What should I get them? I would like to get them something that will last & they can grow into. Thanks.

Bought my daughter a Honda 250EX as her first quad when she was 15. Plenty of power, not too big, and it has an auto clutch so shifting was easy.
It still requires shifting, so she learns how to ride in the proper powerband, but has no clutch for her to worry about.
She absolutely loves it, and my wife hops on it, and it has more than enough power and speed for her to. It has reverse also which is nice.

I bought my kid a Yamaha Raptor 80 a year ago, he's 7 now. He loves the quad and it's plenty fast for him. Auto shift, electric start, and he has no problems following me around in the dirt or sand.

Kasea has come out with some new quads that are really cool for younger kids too. I want to say that they are 90's, but not sure. Boatfloating and 3DO have them for their kids and they were tearing it up out in Dumont. The Raptor 80 is also a really good quad. For the older ones I would recommend going with something bigger. At 12 my parents put me on a Suzuki Quadracer 250. It was a great bike with lots of power (for back then). They put on the govenor until I was able to handle the power then they backed it off. For the new quads, I would probably recommend either the Honda 250 or 300ex. Electric start is nice and would give them the chance to grow into it.
