The kid's computer is infested with adware and spyware.
A lot of them are manual only removal. An hour each with regedit reboot etc..
There are plenty of free scanners but has anyone found a free remover?
Thanks in advance.

The new one from Micro$oft seems to work well... I thought I had my system cleaned and it stripped out a bunch more garbage than AdAware.

There you go. Worked like a champ.
I am more inclined to send some coin to folks that demonstrate their product worked, rather than pay blindly.
Donation headed their way.

You need the new Microsoft spyware program, it runs constantly and trust me it will put all the others to shame, wouldnt you trust the company that runs your computer? I will try and find the link.

what a joke, it's not free. once it scans your computer they want you to register with them for money. Forget that!

Lots of threats out there in cyber-ville, some good, some malicious. Could not get rid of some; they would just keep coming back. One of the worst threats is Microsoft itself. They just admitted to more weaknesses in their firewall software.
I went out and got Norton Internet Security. It's ROCK SOLID...!!! Best firewall/security, anti-spam, anti-virus, parental controls, no popups, auto-update, YOU NAME IT. With XP, it allows me to set different security levels for different users, like my kid. Supports both my cable modem and wireless connections.
Forget those "freebies". They are just spam in disguise. Spend a few bucks and get rid of your problems for good.

Several tests have been done comparing different adware removal products and the findings are that 2 free programs outperformed every paid for program. Spy-Bot Search and Destroy, and Ad-Aware when used together had the best results over EVERY paid program. Thats just the freeware. The paid versions of both programs offer real time protection as opposed to manual scans. Run em both back to back, should clean your machine pretty well.

I recommend Spybot (excellent & free), Ad-aware (does decent & free).
Grab a free copy of this free virus software http://www.grisoft.com
Also, one of the best forums for infections and how to remove them is at http://www.net-integration.net ;)

Make sure to get the DSO's out of the system too, because with them in your system they'll keep inviting some of the stuff back in that you just got rid of. They should show up on the Spybot S + D program, google DSO's and there are a few site which will show you how to get rid of them.
