I would like to see pics of lifted or leveled out f-250 4x4's. Trying to decide which way to go. Let me know what size of lift and if you like it, also tire size would be helpfull. Thank's in advance :D

Here are a couple pics of my F-350, It is a 4.5 inch lift from Donahue Racing. It rides better then stock and its not to high that it is still off-road worthy. This is the front end all taken apart.

Valley Spring Service (www.valleyspringservice.com) in Phoenix has a decent websight with lots of pics and info on various trucks, lifts, tire sizes, etc.
Here's one that's up 8" with 37" tires on 20" rims:

HAHAHA! That has to be the most retarded thing ever! Those leaf springs might as well be box steel; talk about zero flex... probably feels every crack in the road as well (thank got the tires are big enough so they can kinda absorb small impacts)

Doing good, I look at the rez. for the Dam Run pinned on the board every day. I cant wait. You need to hop a ride & come out to Catalina one of these trips. It helps it's a small fix, but it's a fix. I might go to Havasu and bring my boat back for a couple more trips. I will let you know.

i agree with you cola..... if someone posts a pic of their ride, one shouldnt come on and call it a piece of shit... different strokes for different folks.... instead of calling it a turd pile, how about sayin something like "not the ideal truck for me/ not practical for what i use it for", ... or something to that effect....

I wouldn't recommend Fabtech. Its not that they bad, its just that there are better lifts out there that will hold up better. Try Donahue Racing in Anaheim.

Sorry to offend you or your son, but my comment wasn't about you or your son, it was about that truck, and to be exact, its actually the lift. I like Excursions, but to have one lifted 27" and be a 2WD to me just doesn't make any sense at all. Sorry for calling it a pile of turd... I guess I could have rephrased that but its too late now. As for my pile of turd 50mph jet boat. It might just cost a little more then those wheels... unless he bought a spare.
If you want, I can post a photo of my truck and you all can rip on it!

Stay away from Aggresive Suspensions in Placentia, I had mine done there and their customer service after the sale is horrible.
I had my problems fixed at Rancho Motorsports. They are up the 15 off Jurupa and they were really cool and took care of me even though I didn't buy it from them. I would go with the donahoe lift though it DOES ride better than the Fabtech. I have the Fabtech 6 with 35s and the rides is decent but all the donahoe lifted trucks I have ridden in rode much better. Something to do with the spring they use was what I was told

Post away, I'am sure your truck is just the way you like it. Which is fine by me & my son. Also the truck is 4X4, he needs to relocate the crossmember for the trans. & spin the front diff. He is saving up the money to do it. Since he has built this truck out of pocket. He couldn't do it all at once. He doesn't have to drive it every day so it works for him.

Even if it was a 4x4 the front axle would have to be built from scratch in order to keep your caster in a reasonable area and to keep the driveshaft/yoke at a difference of say... less then 30 degrees. but why would anyone want something like that with a working 4x4 system anyhow... it would fit down any trail...and the first off camber obstical it'd flop on its side. Damn thatd be a bitch to get rubber side down again! :jawdrop:

I'm no where near tryin' to flame, but what does all of that stuff do to your towing capacity?. I'd imagine you can load that hauler up pretty good; does the bigger tires, lift etc drop the tow rating? how much? I want to do a lift, but am wondering about all of the other stuff that goes with it.

You guys re making it tough for me. I'm still trying to decide on the 4.5 donahoe or the 6" fabtech 4 link that will be coming out late feb. I got 35 inch tires, so I'm not sure they would fit with the 4.5 " kit.
I actually ordered the Fabtech kit, but could still change my mind and go Donahoe.... I'm sooooo confused!!

WOW great response, still no closer to picking a size for my f250, I know it will be a donahoe kit though. My buddy just bought a 3.5 hanger for his f350 by fabtec, and wishes he would have gone with the donahoe instead, he said all the parts were very weak looking an replaced the bolts with thicker ones.

Timmy, why is your kit better than the new 6" 4 link from Fabtech??
Well first, our kit is 4.5” lift and it is a true 4.5’s of lift on a diesel.
Pros and the cons:
Less body-roll than stock truck:
This is cool of you tow or drive your truck like you stole it or actually use it!
2.5” more travel from ride height to the front bump stops:
This makes the truck actually work off-road!
State-of-the-art dual-rate coil spring:
This is a BIGGY! None of the other kits use a dual rate spring. Our spring at ride height has less spring rate then stock witch increases the ride quality by allowing for a more aggressive shock valving in the low speed section of the digressive dampening curve that we use in the Donahoe Signature series shocks for the Super duty line.
The spring then increase in spring rate as you pass threw the ride height zone witch is paralleled by the digressive compression curve of the shock yielding a truly progressive: Better than Stock” ride.
Lifetime guarantee that coil springs won’t sag:
GARANTED NOT TO SAG!
Adjustable pan-rod bar for perfect front-end alignment capabilities:
This thing is cool. Our pan rod bar has a left/right hand threaded turn buckle built into it so you do not need to remove it from the truck to adjust it!
I do know of another company that offers a adjustable pan rod bar at this time..
Front axle position optimized for tire clearance (Clears 35x12.50R17 tires)
You can run a 37” in tire if it is a normal (NON GETO) size. A 37x12.5x17 on a no wider then 8.5” wheel fits killer.. We push the front end slightly forward so your tires don’t rub on the fire wall or rear part of the fender when you actually use your truck!
Real world performance, mono-tube shocks fine-tuned for each application by Donahoe Racing engineers
This is the other BIGGY. We offer a specifically valved mono tube shock design that is specifically valved for the application. It is not there because it just happens to fit between the bolt holes.
No change in towing capacity
Anyone that only uses a block in the rear of the truck will experience no change in towing capacity due to the fact that the stock spring and over load is not altered in any way.
100% Bolt-on system - no drilling, cutting or welding necessary for install
This is cool if you want to do it in the drive way and saves you some coin if you are paying someone.
No stacking of rear blocks. One piece rear block with built-in bump stop arm
This is pretty cool our new block have a cast in bump stop arm that keeps everything happy
MADE IN THE USA - every bit of it!
Buying anything made in the USA helps keep our dollars here and out of the hands of Terrorists.. :D
As far as the Fabtech kit here are my pennies...
THINGS I LIKE:
The billet sway bar links
The 4 link is cool for bling
The fact that it is a 6” kit
The 4” diameter coil over :D
THINGS I DON’T LIKE:

I'm no where near tryin' to flame, but what does all of that stuff do to your towing capacity?. I'd imagine you can load that hauler up pretty good; does the bigger tires, lift etc drop the tow rating? how much? I want to do a lift, but am wondering about all of the other stuff that goes with it.
J(bone stock v-10, 4.30 rear, 2wd)B
That trailer loaded is just over 10K lbs and I have had no problems with towing it. If your worried about towing a boat with it your going to need a pretty big ass boat to max out the towing cap.

I have our 8” rear springs (Deaver) with a 2” block in the rear of my truck and with 750 lbs non wait distributed tunge wait my truck squats about 2 inches. With a wait distributing hitch it is about 1 inch.. I don’t mind the loss of ride height when towing in comparison to driving a stink bug every day..
If it was a big issue I would put bags or the stock over load spring back on.

Here are some pictures of my '04 F-250 4X4. Has the 6.0 Powerstroke turbo diesel. Went with the Donahoe 6" lift with their new dual bypass shocks, steering stabilizers, and all of the goodies. Love the ride and handles awesome. Sitting on 37x12.5x17 tires. Had JW Fabrication do the lift and I love it!

Well first, our kit is 4.5” lift and it is a true 4.5’s of lift on a diesel.
Pros and the cons:
State-of-the-art dual-rate coil spring:
This is a BIGGY! None of the other kits use a dual rate spring. Our spring at ride height has less spring rate then stock witch increases the ride quality by allowing for a more aggressive shock valving in the low speed section of the digressive dampening curve that we use in the Donahoe Signature series shocks for the Super duty line.
The spring then increase in spring rate as you pass threw the ride height zone witch is paralleled by the digressive compression curve of the shock yielding a truly progressive: Better than Stock” ride.

UGH!!!!! Boy do I feel dumb  I had to read this about 12 times before I kind of understood. Sounds good to me :rollside:

FYI If anyone is thinking of having a billett grill put on thier truck's I just had one done by Outlaw offroad and it came out great the brand is called TREX billet grills very happy with the way it looks It ran 250.00 installed, It's not a overlay but a cut out, very clean. Now if only I could decide on the size lift I want :D

No just going to stay on the 285's (33") for now, with the 4" lift and 35 the front would rub on the front fender when doing the off road thing, so I was told.

I have a email directed to him but I know he has been dealing with bigger issues. As for it working good in the dirt I do not know but I am sure it could hold it own with the King coil-overs up front. The only draw back to offroading this truck is that I think the 37's are to big for the wheel wells. Thinking of dropping them down to 35's on the next go around. But all and all the truck is sweet.

I don't want to change the geometry and the towing abilities of the truck and I think this will be the right kit for me (until you get the 6" done... hee hee).
I'll post pics when it gets home.

Yes our shocks are a little more.
We had some corrosion issues on the east coast and west coast snowy areas with the Bilsteins. Our new signature series shocks have a Nitro Steel shaft instead of a chrome shaft and we now clear powder coat the plated can. Both improvements significantly increased the salt spray corrosion test results. We also made some improvements to the internals as well but mainly some very subtle valving updates..both added some cost to the shock...
Glad to here you got your kit going! Sorry I didn't get back to you with some info in time. But, you did make a great choice that you can always add on to.

Is there a Cali law that says the body cannot be higher than the tire? Back in the 80's my cousin was the prez of a Toyota 4x4 Club (I think it was called So. Cal Mini Stompers). Some of those Toyotas running 40's and huge lifts were always getting pulled over or ticketed.

You probably need to shim the carrier bearing. That truck has a 2 pc driveshaft. It's easy to do. I had the same lift on my F250 and it had a shudder until I shimmed the carrier with 2" of shims. It should take 1"-2" of shims. Just keep adding shims 1/4 at a time until it's gone or as good as it will get. It may not go away entirely. The shim kit runs around $35.

I agree. My 6" Donahoe lift took 1-1/4" of shims so yours should be around 1" of shims. Talk to fastTimmy, Donahoe sells a carrier bearing shim kit.

I realy like how the six gun works...Thereis alot more going on in that box than we would ever think. It even had dual redundant processors...I am not sure on the waranty side but I do know that the six gun plugs in line between the stack brain and the stack wireing harness...and does not leave a code or that it was ever there...It is a bigger pain to pull out for waranty but the features and reduntant systems in the six gun make it a real winner. There are also many banks friendly dealers that will help even with power kits on the trucks. Give Banks all call and drill them on it.....
