it would work fine for what you will be towing.

Did you tow the boat in your signature with it?
How did it do?

True, how well do you think it would do for a 21' like your bros?

We pulled our 25Daytona with ours a couple times before we got the Sub. It did alright, it had the 4.6l in it. it could have used more power, but what couldnt. I am glad we got the Sub when we did, the Daytona was definitely pushing the limits.
we also towed our 20' jet with no problems at all.

KICKED AZZ,
90 up the 15 thru the cajon pass. Make it 335 miles while towing to the river. held everyone plus all of our gear. The truck was awesome.
It had the 5.4 with tow package and yes I would tow the shockwave for 3 years with that truck and had NO COMPLAINTS
boat weighed 3200 and trailer is 1500.

Good stuff, thanks for the info.
My friend just sold his White 97/98 with the 5.4 had around 100k on it for $5k I learned about it after the sell, I am regretting that now. I am thinking of checking out a few with the 5.4 they are cheap. I was thinking of paying payments on a F250 or 350 diesel. But when I talked to Dan and thought about it, I dont need one, the tow rig is going to sit parked for months at a time, it is only going to be used to go to the lake and river.
What does Ford include in the "tow package"?

We pulled with one for three years while we had a 21' boat and it did ok when we moved up in size to the 24 (25.2) Lavey you could really tell the differance. So now we traded it in on a f-250, much better and I fell much more secure in the big truck.

It does just fine. If you want to go 90 mph (which you shouldnt) then dont bother. I would pull grades fine and would cruise at 65-70 all day with an Ultra 24'.

Our 2004 tows our boat great. It has a 5.4 w/o the tow package. My boat is a 72 Hallett vdrive with lots of glass. Very heavy for it's size. Also rides on a triple axle trailer. Coming back from havy on the 40, it down shifts once at the top of the hill out of Needles. Still maintains 65mph.

not to start an arguement, i went to buy a 04 and it could barely move it self, so I got the F250 Instead, I would recommend against the new expedition

I have a 98 Eddie Bauer w/5.4, 4wd, 105K miles, and pull a 5.5K lbs 77 Sleekcraft with it. No problems anywhere I've taken the boat. We do have some hills up here that used to tax my previous rig but not the Expedition. Need to trade it though, it's starting to get a bit tired. Would like to get another, we'll see.

After about 4000 RPM the powerband turns to mush, but there is lots of torque between about 2 and 3000 which with the overdrive off is where it runs at about 65-70. I wish I had waited for the 2005. They have 3 valves per cylinder instead of two. Extra 40hp.

Hell yes, had flowmaster delta 40's on it. It would not have passed the DB test at the marina.....

There are some problems with the 3 valve motors right now, best to wait for them to work out the kinks. :D

Mine does great, you seen it. Even with the 7" lift and 2wd on 35" tires. And now that I don't have the Eaton supercharger on anymore, the cylinder heads aren't blowing themselves out anymore. Just make sure you get a warranty that the dealers will accept and cover it for as long as possible, I didn't even have mine 20 days before it died then it spent a month at the dealer being researched and rebuilt. :hammerhea

I have an 01 with the 5.4 and 3.55 gears. I wish it had at least 3.73 because it doesn't pull the hills very well. I'm only pulling a 18' Kachina so its not a heavy load.

I pull our 25' Shockwave Tremor (6000lbs) with our 2000 Expedition. It's powered by the 5.4L engine, 3.55 axel ratio and is the Eddie Bauer 4X4. It pulls great! I did install air-bags on it to help with the tongue weight when I'm loaded down with camping gear and peeps, otherwise it handles it fine.

We have a '98 Eddie Bauer with 103K. It has a 5.4 with the Tow Package, 3.73 rear end & the Load Leveling Suspension. We tow a 22XP Eliminator that weighs just under 5k on trailor. Tows & runs excellent. Only repairs so far are a tranny at 67k (warranty replaced), an engine sensor & a torque convertor last summer. The Ford dealer told us the triton engines are going 200k plus before any problems. Ours runs perfect. If the Expedition is an Eddie Bauer, it is a great buy because the interior is very high quality & built to last. It also has power pop out windows in the back that we keep ajar so the car doesn't heet up too much.
Re-sale is very low on all SUVs. The Ford is a good rig. The auto load leveling suspension & the 3.73 rear end is great. Also, the 2nd seat reclines & has much more leg room than the Tahoe or Suburban.

This may be a stupid question, since most of you have boats with big tanks. But did you ever carry your gas cans in the back of the truck? if so, did you leave the vent open and did the inside smell like gas?
