Your local boat show should have plenty of pontoon boats. Just ride the bus to get there.

I love JC Pontoons. Had one for 6 years. Great finish, great detail and a lot of fun. For a young family they are a really a great time. My only problem was the wind and it just wasn't fast enough. All my friends would go up to Topoc, eat breakfast and be getting ready to leave as I was pulling up ... LOL.
No joking, the JC is one of the better built pontoons out there. A lot more money then those Sun Trackers and Lowes, but worth it IMHO. A Tritoon with an I/O is a lot faster then mine was, but them again, it was more money as well.
If you have any questions, PM me and I'll answer them as best as I can.

I just bought a 28 Bennington with a 350 mag. It will be a nice second boat that I don't have to worry about. It will hold 20 people, has a full bar with a refrigerator, tons of storage and ran 42 mph when I tested it. I think I will be happy with it. price range was about 55-62k.
I would not worry about people giving you a hard time. I talked to a guy at the boat show that has a 40 cat with big power that says he has more fun in his pontoon than his cat. A lot of people are buying them as second boats.

This past last summer I bought a Bennington 25 Tripple Toon with a 225 Honda outboard. The boat is great and will run in heavy Havasu water close to the 50 MPH mark. Good Luck looking for you new boat.

What do you guys think about the Suncruiser by Lowe???

TCHB
02-01-2005, 09:34 PM
I did not look at that model. I did quite a bit of research on the the boats before going with the Bennington.
1. Pontoon Size
2. Lifting Strakes (who many and how long)
3. Pontoon Materials
4. Interior Design and Warranty (lifetime on deck and all metal).
If you want to talk PM me.

Dave my opnion is go CHEAP!! If your family is not used to boating yet get something you can afford and enjoy. Then if you guys really like it go for the 20 to 30 grand boat. There are alot of pontoons out there used for less than 10 grand and you will have a blast plus when you want to upgrade its easier to get rid of.

THAT IS WHAT I DID , I BOUGHT A USED BOAT FOR $14,000, I WASN'T TOO WORRIED ABOUT IT , THEN 2 YRS LATER I BOUGHT A NEW BOAT.

Yea Baja you know I hate to say it but I just sold my 19 Daytona and did just what I said as advice. I bought a 7000.00 pontoon and I am putting in some jams as we speak. We will do a bigger Daytona not this summer but hopefully next and I didnt want to be stuck without anything. But it will be a nice change to own something that I wont have to be so anal over.

I talked to Bennington (President) and he said the Tri Toon boats are selling faster than any other line of boats in the country. Sales are good and they are not bending much.

The best pontoon out there is the Playcraft powertoon extreme, 350 mag bravo 3, 50 mph. great graphics, will out run any pontoon on the water. If you don't at least look at them you may be sorry. Gaines Marine, Lake Havasu City, Az.

We rode in one a few weeks ago with the same set-up and it ran 45mph. I fully intended to buy one until I looked at and drove the Bennington. The fit and finish was no comparison between the two boats and the Bennington had a more solid feel to it. We ran 42mph in the Bennington with the same motor / drive package and it is 2' longer. Anybody in the market should really check out all the boats and then decide. I am glad I did.

The Extreme can be bought with the 8.1, as can a couple of others. You can get the Extreme, Aloha and I think Aqua Patio with twin OBs up to a total of 600 hp.

I looked at Bennington's yesterday at the show. Comfortable looking and all, but I crawled underneath and the bottom had exposed plywood all around the perimeter and the front. Exposed wood on a boat like that will not last long. Make sure you look at all the structural details, and don't get sucked in by the flash. Good luck.

You should know the pontoons AND the Deck of the Bennington ARE LIFE time warrentys. The benningtons and the JC are both VERY good choices, if you really want to I would be happy to take you out on them and let you feel the ride on them, ifyou ride in them you will buy one of them.
I would say the Bennington might be more to your needs and it is a little more comfortable then the JC, but if your looking for performance and price is NOT a factor then the JC may be the one for you. In the last few years Bennington has come a LONG way in comfort and ride, they are very solid on the water and give you that when you are on them.
If your serious and want to go out on these give me a call and we can set something up.
I just got back from the LA boat show and we have all of them in stock and ready to go out on the lake.......

Playcraft Xtreme Powertoon. 350 Mag, does smooth 55 mph, all custom top to bottom, colors, design, layout, engine, whatever you want. So nice having a nice smooth tri toon, tons of room, and fast enough !! Best purchase I ever made !
