Where do you take your trailer for new bunks? Can you take it with the boat on it?

They did mine with boat on the trailer. I would not trust any one else to lift my boat off since they have always been good to me there.

I just did mine not too long ago... $12 for a 2x6x10 presure treated $ 4 for stainless carage bolts and nuts. $15 for bunk carpet. $3 for indoor outdoor carpet glue, $1 for roofing nails... damn $35 bucks and 20 mins. Or you can pay about 75 bucks and get premade wraped 2x4s. then spend 5 mins on it.
My guess is it will cost you about $250 plus to have some 1 else do it.

A few years ago I had my 1987 Competitve totally re-built to new condition for my Lavey. I did a ton of stuff: sand blasted, re-painted, pivit hitch, new brake/tongue/master cyl., diamond plate, bunks, carpet, bearings, wires, lights, and had them add removable guide-ons because the old lavey was pretty shallow V and liked to end up on top of the fenders on Lake Arrowhead's steep-ass ramp. All that was well under $3,000 vs a new Extreme trailer for like $4,800.
I bet Tony will quote you over the phone if you measure the bunks. In fact, he probably built that trailer and already knows what it needs. Give him a call tomorrow and don't talk to anyone else.

Extreme did my 29' Shockwave, a total of 12 long bunks for $400.00 just last month. I also had them touch up the rust spots around the bolt holes for an extra $150.00...awesome job

Yeah, it only takes about 1 hour to do it yourself once the bunks are made. It would take less than half that if you had some help.
Cutting and stapling the carpet kind of sucks, but that only takes a couple of hours more. I've done it twice. The first time I put a couple of coats of Thomson's water seal on the wood. The second time I just used piss-board (pressure treated) 2x4's. Home Depot didn't have long enough ones, but Dixiline here in the San Diego area carried them. I even had Dixiline cut 'em to length.

I personally would stay away from Intertech, I have had nothing but problems with them and there customer service is horrible. Build a nice trailer, just can't take care of thier customers or thier problems. Just my 2 cents. Do it yourself or go to Extreme, you will that yourself in the end.....trust me :220v:

Just find the replacement carpet and take a staplegun to the lake, only takes a few mins to replace bunks once you get the boat off, just mark the new bolt locations from the old bunks and youre all set.

Worst part about doing it yourself is getting the old bunks off. Since all the bolts and nuts will be rusted on, it's a bitch, not bad if you have a sawz all. Did mine on a 34' boat trailer a few years ago, never again. I'll gladly pay someone next time.

I would not. They do not have the structural integrity of actual grain wood. You can usualy only span them 12" or 16" OC and they warp/sag with heat if spanned over their spec. Stick with preasure treated Doug Fir and apply a quality oil based sealer like Superdeck or Penofin but not Thompsons crap. Use stainless or nickle staples and your good. But I would not fock with it if Extreme would do it for under $400.

If you can drop it off for $400 that is a pretty decent deal, although it would only cost about $100 to do it yourself.

Has anyone used the "polywood" (in the deck section at Lowes) as bunks? Same size as the 2x6's, plastic, lifetime warranty, and they claim as stonger than wood.

Not sure about that stuff but if its like Trex than, again, it can't be spanned 4' like would be necessary on your boat trailer. Check their web site and see what the spec is. I've been to a few homes where people have replaced old Doug fir decks that were spanned 24" or more OC with Trex and the Trex looks like the whoop section at Supercross :)
