Thanks Tim. I'm getting high 60's. I've hit 70 before with two people and little gas. Went back to the show on Saturday and had to do the deal.

It looks weird but, the guy is trimming back the bush and the other guy is next to him. It looks like he is behind him...pretty funny though.

I don't think so. At least not yet. I was going to sale it last October and the owner let me keep it at the shop in case if there were any customers that wanted it and didn't charge me anything. I thought I'd wait until next year to buy a new one so I pulled it out of the shop and then the boat show got to me... :hammerhea

I got the itch and upgraded the end of December... I think the main reason was that Ultra gave me what I paid for my Boat when I bought it new in 2003... I did look at the Domn8er Deck, but Ultra gave me a Great Deal, and the 23 Deck is perfect size for where we boat... Keep us updated on the progress with Pics... We are picking up the New 23 Deck Friday or Saturday... :rollside: Cant wait...

Nice...Congrats! Domn8er is still so new that I don't think he'd be willing to let me trade it in. Yeah, that 23 looks nice. I actually want my uncle to take a look at it. He doesn't want something too big so I think this boat would be perfect for him and the family.

I think you are going to like the 28', what type of engine and horsepower are you going with?

I am going with a 540 blown. You have the 540 naturally aspirated right? How do you like it? Any problems?

I have the 572 naturally aspirated. I think you will get more low end torque from the motor but will have to do more maintenance on it as well.

I have only had it our twice so far but top speed was 73 mph at about 5500rpm. I had the awening up about 50 gal of gas and 9 people on it in rough water and 80 degree weather. Ice chest was half full, I also have about another 500lbs in stereo equipment, generator and 5 batteries on board. We are going to play with the prop a bit, (lab finish) and try to tweak it. I think with the added weight of my toys on board I should see around 77-78 mph. I have been reading all the feedback from the forum so far. I would say you are going to see a better hole shot with the blown motor then my set up. Probably a better top speed as well, the only down side is maintence and longevity of the motor. The naturally aspirated is a bit tough at idle, so when you shift into to gear it is a bit jarring. It doesn't seem to like to idle under 800rpm roughly, however if you shift at this rpm it will stall, so you must push the throttle up to around 1000 rpm as not to stall. I think the down side of my set up is the hole shot and idle. The stand off box also creates a weak hole shot, but it is great in rough water. It is still a work in progress. I think you will be happy with the 540 blown setup.

I was playing with the idead of getting twins. I was worried about the longevity with a blown motor but think this is probably the best route to go with the speeds I want to see.

Look at it this way, with what you would spend in maintenance, fuel and other costs associated with twin engines, you can easily pay for the more frequent maintenance of one motor. Handling could be an issue also, the current setup with one motor is very stable and agile too. I don't know what two motors would do and I am not sure if he has rigged one this way yet to know how it would perform.

He hasn't but said it wouldn't be a problem. I think my best bet is to go with a 540. I will just have them de tune it.

I don't think so. I almost bought it back in February and he changed his mind and decided to keep it. Looks like a nice boat for the $$. Shoot him a PM.

Sorry not for sale this year. I got screwed on an insurance deal and I had to use the down payment that I was going to use on the new one. Hey, Outnumbered...nice pick up on the Ultra.
