My neighbor is a New Aston Martin Dealer Mechanic.
Ford sent him and his family to the UK for tech school.
Kids, wife, everyone except the cat.
Ford is as serious as a heart attack to take market share he says.
Real nice, even have some features from the Bond car, which he says new buyers are looking for.
The Bond Aston Martin, if I remember correctly, had a lot of industry firsts, features and devices that are almost standard on cars now.

draggin out from a stoplight..........4.9 vs 5.4 means you just got spanked. .5 secs is about 2-3 car lengths that will continue to grow as you run into the triple digits. Now, that's not to say that Porsche's aren't awesome because they are and I've always been a big fan. My buddy just got a new GT3 that he runs only on the track and canyon roads and has a '04 Turbo-S. Both are sweet cars and I'd love to have either of them.... but the Vantage definitely adds a new variable to the equation when looking at $100K sports cars. I'd look hard at the Aston simply becuase you won't see one around every corner like you do with a Porsche.
No Aston kool-aid here, just thought it was a sweet car.

The 2005 Carrera (997), non-S and non-Turbo, will do 0-60mph in 4.8 sec. Top speed is 177mph. These are the numbers reported from Porsche. The Vantage is expected to be about $140K USD, the Carrera MSRP is ~$70K base. The Carrera S and Turbo perfom even better, and cost more.
I really like the new Vantage, but for the money I prefer the Carrera.

If you want a fast Porsche, get a 73 or 74 , gut it, and put 3.3l drivetrain in it... Older car is ultra light... Steet legal, too ;)
Have a bud who has a c2 convert. Spent about 40k adding a turbos and getting it tuned by some guru in Los Angeles...It roars like a jet airplane when he's on it...His car is quick as the last factory twin turbo... His bud has a 73 with 3.3 stock and smokes him to about 160mph...

I had a couple Vettes with the last one a 2000 coupe and it was a blast. I just picked up a Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe last September and it is a whole different type of an animal. The Vette was very raw and you feel the torque, but the Porsche gets there just as fast with more finesse. I like my current Porsche over the Vette; anyway mostly old men and hot women drive Vettes. It felt like I aged when I had the Vette, it’s so funny there are three yellow Vettes driven all by men all in there fifties at my work. I have a long way to go before I hit that mark. :crossx:
