I know most of you aren't country-western music fans, but those of you who are know Chris LeDoux as one of the most enduring, talented and uncompromising entertainers in the industry. He refused to join the Nashville clique and was one of the few "true cowboys" in the country western music scene. He was the PRCA world bareback champion in 1976.
He passed away yesterday in Casper, WY from complications to liver cancer. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_9_7.gif ('http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm39696US')
God speed.

My favorite was "Cowboys in a Coupe DeVille." (I think that's the name of it)
"chug-a-lugin' up one side
sliding down the other,
I'm a lover of the other
side of the hill"
There were so many, though.
I think David Allen Coe originally did "This ol' hat" but Chris did a great job of it.

... a worn out tape of Chris Ledoux... lonley women and bad booze... I'm to young to feel this damn old
That lyric was the first I ever heard of Chris Ledoux, went out and bought a couple tapes and was an instant fan (one of the few things we should thank Garth Brooks for). "Rebel", "outlaw country"... were just labels for a man that didn't care for all of that.
God speed you Chris....

I've been a fan for 20 years, even got to meet him in Tucson once. Godspeed Chris, I'll think of you everytime I use Cadillac Ranch to drown out some p.o.s. gangster rap in the next boat over!

I grew up around rodeo and rode myself for awhile,, and the Chris Ledoux concert after the rodeo was always the highlight of the night. He never did fit into the clique of the Nashville crowd,,,
Just remember,, "even cowboys like a lil bit of rock and roll..."

He'll be missed by many. I have numerous cd's and old cassettes of him and enjoy them all. I always admired his stand to remain true to his roots and not let Nashville determine who he was. His songs were of true cowboy life, old campfire stories, and a little wild life mixed in. Going out hunting now will be a little different not having new Chris along for the entertainment. May he rest in peace.

That's to sad to hear about his passing. He was a great performer and one of the last REAL cowboys. I seen him a couple years at Country Jam and he closed the place down in style. Did his song while riding a mechanical bull while fireworks were going off. One of the best performances I've ever scene and definitely one of the most memorable.
RIP.
