Up at the top of the lake near the refuge to the AZ side of the reed island, the water was mirky I thought I was going around a shallow spot NOPE! I felt the drive hit sand so I shut down and brought up the drive and came off plane and came to rest on a bar, when a wave hit the boat it didnt even wiggle the boat, Bottom line we dug out and helped another boat dig out and get his boat off the bar, and the boat ran great!! :hammer2:

Not any more! BOR let out around 3 feet this past week. It's pretty dam (pun intended) low right now! Water lines are once again, clearly visible. 446' & change. I heard there was some event in Parker over the weekend...maybe speed ski races?

Foce26,
I would get your drive alignment checked as well as change the impeller. If you have a sea strainer, get in there and clean it out as well. Your drive undoubtedly sucked up a bunch of silt/sand when you landed.
Glad you got her out and nobody was hurt.

The river north of Havasu was really low. I have pics of the Sandbar I will post tonight. My son was loving all the sand at the "Sand"bar.
When we were driving home yesterday on the 40, it was the first time I have seen sand exposed by Topock. i have seen it low but never exposed.

The lake is at normal levels.... But that doesn't mean the F'ing shallow areas didn't move... Where the water comes into Havasu has had inconsistent flows and this probably shifted the shallow / deeper areas somewhat. That sucks you hit though. Your 30'er is the Kachina huh? I believe I met you at Windsor? Hope the boat is all good... How did the drive look after you got her out??

When I new I was screw was when I ran out of the dark water channel to follow. I was all trimmed up and moving. I just killed it and we came to a nice stop. Most of the mud was from me jumping back in the boat. You would sink at least a foot in it when you tried to lift the boat and move it.
Good times. :D

The Bu. of Reclamation is dialing in for an astronomical snowmelt.
Lk Havabrew, Meade, Mojave and Parker will be full the entire summer. Powell will get juiced too.
We will be there for 6 full weeks.
Can hardly wait.

Havasu Hangin'
03-14-2005, 07:25 PM
The mouth of the river really depends on the river flow...not just the lake level.
Havasu is full, but they have been letting less out of Mojave due to less demand downriver (nobody is using their sprinklers lately).
The problem is...if you are coming north from Havasu...by the time you realize you ain't gonna make it...it's too late. :supp:
That mud is some nasty shit...

I'M THINKING GOING TO THE LEFT OF THE REED ISLAND,THE RIGHT SIDE WAS REAL WHITE :(Are you saying go bewteen the cali side and the island or the az side and the island

GHTRIM
03-14-2005, 07:57 PM
Historiclly the deepest part is between the Island (reeds) and the AZ side about 80 to 100' off of the island. Although this area tends to run between 2.5 to 4' depending on levels. If you have a good run and trim up you should be good.... It does, however have some pucker factor to it regardless. :220v:

That pic is exactly where I went thru on sunday. No problems for me, I was doing about 50 and trimmed up. The pucker factor was definitely in full effect though.

Basically anywhere except thru that channel. I have seen people stuck on both sides of the channel and both sides of the reed island. :rollside:

Phat Matt

If you go up between the island and the AZ side and stay sowhere around 100' off the island you can usually see the channel (dark water) if you stand up. It does curve and move a bit but I haven't had a problem since. The mud we got stuck in was further to the right. It looks like you are going the right way up river, but you will realize soon enough that you aren't. :D It is soft mud and weeds though which it a lot easier on the drive than sand!
When in doubt, trim it out (and gun it)!
