LOL :D
Did anyone else read Bob Brown's diddy in HB?? It seems that Volvo has a new drive and is using RD's idea. But they one upped him. Yes, that's right, it has 2 props on the front of the drive!!
Do you think those Volvo guys were lurking here a few years back when every one was making fun of RD for bringing up that idea?

My understanding is that front mounted props on big ship propulsion pods predates the ***boat forums (as in mid 90s)
I have to admit, I didn't think it was that great an idea and still don't. With the prop under the hull, pressure waves from the prop can transmit into the hull. It sounds like they have a design that mitigates this effect so perhaps this is the first of a whole new generation. I'm still skeptical, though.

You should'nt make fun of the elderly.
.ya know just last week i went to visit Tom in the ward, I asked him how he was doing he said " fine' I asked him how the food was he said ' fine' I asked Tom if the food was OK he replied " the food is fine" When I asked him if they gave him a snack at bed time he said" yes, they give a cookie, some hot chocolate and a viagra" I was somewhat unnerved about the viagra so asked the head nurse what was up : she said ' the cookie makes him happy, the hot chocolate makes him sleepy...and the viagra is to keep him from rolling out of bed"

OK how about someone starting a "Magnetohydrodynamic Drive" thread. Maybe Merc or Volvo will start to invent it

I dont think its consider stealing when your taking things from the mentally ill. Its more like keeping them from running around with sharp scissors.

I posted this a while ago .Is this it ? BTW , the first torpedo by Bushnell had twin props on front ;) .If it is such a great idea , how come all modern torpedos have the props on the back ? :D

Probably cause they wanted the EXPLOSIVE in front to do what it needs to do.

hmmm... I would think the concern would be more to give the guidance system a clear view.

I just think the Navy doesn't want to ding up the props when the warhead explodes...

They could use those cheapo throw away composite props now available. ;)
