No, but I have heard many times about the electronics getting wet in the rear of the vehicle from dipping the trailer and getting fried !! BMW will warranty the problem if and when it happens if under warranty still (so I hear), but they aren't going to come out and replace everyone because there are a majority that do not tow. :hammerhea

I used to pull a MACH22 with a 03 4.4 X5. Pulled it GREAT, BMW states a rating of apx 5500 pounds(which I WOULD NOT DO!). the old 03 had 282hp's at the wheels and the new 04 & 05's have 345 I think at the wheels not the crankshaft like MOST other manufactures speck's. WE have MANY customer that pull boats, jetskis, ect with their X5's. IF you need anything for your BMW let me know, would be happy to help....Toby

One of the board members on LasVegas***boats.com had an X5 that he used to trailer a 28 Nordic Heat to Havasu - once. And he used to trailer his previous boat - Eliminator 24' - with it. Seemed to do a good job.

My parents X5 pulled my 22 Nordic better then my Navigator.. I was more then impressed with "Eggy" (nick name for the X5)

Isnt Ziggy the Bimmer hookup?
Yep.
Gave a family member & friend the best price they could find on the West Coast.
The X5 is really nice. Op for the bigger motor, a real screamer.

Make sure that you negotiate the hitch in the deal. There is a lot of work involved to install the factory one, and I wouldn't trust Uhaul to install it! BTW in my opinion you should step up for the 4.8is, with all the Dinan you can throw at it if you really want a screamer.

Hell drive down there with the boat in tow and hook it up and go find out... I think that is the best way...
because we all have opinions on towing....
