My buddy just went to the Ford dealer. He has a close friend that works there and this is what they showed him while he was there. The head guy at the dealer told him it is going to sell for around $37-39k. Estimated HP is 450-475hp. drool...

Sounds kinda cheap , they are selling the saleen's for 40K with nothing and the supercharged ones (WHEN THE COME IN ) at over 50K.....
I would think around 45k would be more realistic....

The sales guy told him the big key Ford is going to use is "less than 40k" I am sure it will roll into 40+k range if you want all the options, they are probably pushing base.

Well if it stays under 40 That is sweet, But lets reflect when the 03 cobra came out... Dealers had a min 5K mark-up for almost a year on it....
Kinda like the new vette was....

That is true, I am SURE the dealers will put their mark on it...they were doing it for the fricken GTs. The way to do it will have to be to order it after the dust settles.

Of course mine is nowhere near factory, but when you start with 390 it helps. This has 515 RWHP, dyno done by some kind guys with the Bureau of Automotive Repair in Riverside. Full Kenny Brown underside, hard launch bar and girdle to keep the ass from coming apart on launch. Currently runs approx 14-16lbs with the 2.80 pulley, MOTOBLUE Heat Exchanger, Accufab "Big Oval" Throttle body ( after this pic was taken ), Bassani Mid-Length headers and X pipe into mangna flows, tuned using DIABLOSPORT Predator Flash Tuner and MOTOBLUE HP SERIES Cold Air Kit.

No idea Kilr, I don't have the patience for a line start. I was thinking about Irwindale run the 1/8 when I need new tires. As you'll soon find out them 35 or 30 series tires aren't cheap.

New Saleen's are going for 46K+ (Expect 53K plus for the blown S281)
I will be really surprised if that car see's a sticker of less than 43K plus as Kilrtoy added a 5-10K dealer markup for the first year.
The car will no doubt be impressive just like the 03-04 Model. The only 3 things that kept me from buying one was the weight (3800lbs+) the seating position (I feel like I am sitting on the couch) and the factory shifter location.
I had a feeling they were going to come out with a GT500 car.I actually wouldn't be surprised if they offer a GT350 in the next year or two as well.

Nice car!
I would expect mid- low 12's on a street tire and mid 11's on a slick in the 1/4.

I have a loaded 96 GT conv, and it weighs 3720 lbs with me [I weigh 180 lbs] in it .
Went to the scale to find out ,cause I thought convertibles were 60+ lbs heavier than coupes  . Do you think Ford put more material in the newer models ? ;)

Most of the reason that the 03+ Cobras weigh so much is:
Iron block - so that the block won't crack under boost(I think it is right at 80lbs heavier than the old 32V motor not to mention the blower prob. adds 60lbs on top of the motor)
IRS - Independant rear I believe is heavier than the old 8.8" live axle.
If you have a chance to drive one do so they haul ass!But they feel quite a bit heavier than the Mach 1/GT

If they keep within that price range they're for sure gonna put the hurt on Saleen.
Rio
You would be a fool to own a Saleen over any of the 03+ Cobra's.
The Saleen's are way overpriced and offer very little performance.(There previous generation S-281E car makes 450hp and cost more than 65K)
The 03-04 Cobra will make that much HP with tuning, pulley, intake and exhaust and will cost you less than 36K retail.(Truly a performance bargain)

Well you can have 450hp all day long but if you have those skinny azz tires you ain't chit! Or maybe they'll put traction control to detune the engine so you don't break anything when you do find traction.
