I should go take a picture of mine. The bra that was once black is not black and yellow. Looks like a paintball splatter.

Mike's truck got trashed coming back from riding yesterday. Looks like that front end slaughtered terradactyls instead of poor little butterflies. It's gross.

Caught one in the face a few weeks ago doing 85-90 in Jackpunx's stoker. Left 3 gauges in my sunglasses and woke up with a black eye the next day :yuk:

Seems to me that there was a butterfly population explosion about 10 or 12 years ago too.
One thing I recall was was cleaning butterfly remains off the boat was a bitch.

It was terrible. Could not see out of the window by the time I got back from Dove Springs yesterday. I have a nice collection on my helmet and goggles too from dirt bike riding.

I got it real bad a couple of weeks ago to and from Vegas, then again last week with Havasu. I'm sure I'll get it again today on the way to Havasu. It must be that time of year. Does anybody remember the time when there were so many crickets it looked like it was snowing? It must have been about eight years ago when I was heading to Havasu, when we stopped for gas in Blythe it was like 4" thick on the ground with crickets. I wish I had a camera that time.

in2-in2mx, its spelled pterradactyl I'm old enough to have seen one, many, many years ago, way back in an unknown canyon in Lake Powell. It was grey, long beak and legs. Some people think it was a heron, but I knew all along it was a pterradactyl

I remeber that, driving from Vegas to Parker in My Jeep wrangler, the damed things would hit, fall on the hood, shake their heads and fly off again :2purples: Felt like i was hitting birds

Thanks. You are right in that it is the original spelling but dropping the "p" is a widely accepted form now. I looked it up without the p online and the dinosaur came up.
Too bad you didn't take a pic in that canyon...you'd be rich. :rollside:

Hey Kilr,
I drove the girls back to Vegas the day after I said hi to you. It got so bad that we had to stop at the Laughlin cut off to clean the windshield. We just get going and wham, 4 at once. we laughed so hard that everytime we hit one the kids would make so sort of comment. we had to stop at the Gold Strike because we were laughing so hard.

Had to avoid those little fellers just playing a round of golf...had to keep ducking to avoid being hit in the face in the cart :jawdrop: . And if your ball hit a tree forget about seeing which way it went  , to many things flying around to tell which was which. Guess I exposed myself as a real duffer with that last one  :p

They are Painted Lady Butterflys and they migrate north from northern Mexico typically in wetter years when so many hatch the local area can't support them. Usually a heavy year occurs every 5-10 years or so. They are everywhere right now for hundreds of miles.
