Got a 23' Lightning, 496 mag. It's got a 23 4 blade stainless. Currently about 67 Mph. @ 4600 Rpm. What can I do?. The dealer said he would give me any prop I want to suit what I want the boat to do. Said they would loan me a few props to find what I like. Any suggestions?

At what air temp are you hitting 4600?
4600 is redline on a 496Mag. After that point hp and torque fall off.
My 21 Lavey (which is 22'8") w/ a 496Mag, I can spin my 24" Bravo to about 4800 in the summer, and just touch the rev limitor in Spring and Fall. I can spin a labbed 3 blade 25" a little faster, but it blows out very easiely.
If you want more RPM's, try a Bravo 22".

it sounds like they equipped your boat with a 23, rev 4 prop...... you should be using a 24 bravo one prop, that's what we use on our 23' w/ a 496 mag and they hit around 47/4800......but if your happy with what you have it stick with it ,,, and it sounds like it is the rite prop for your ride .....67/ with a mag is about right!

i use a 23p rev 4 prop on my 24' boat. i was running mid 60's at 4800. after some damage to the prop last year i had it repaired and labbed. Bronson Hill in Santa Ana changed the parabolics to get the extra 300 rpm's. I can now hit high 60's to 70mph at 5100rpm. I also wanted to run with a bravo1 but because the diameter is larger it would actually reduce the rpm's and produce less top end speed. Labbing your 23p rev4 will give you results as if your running a 24p. Another bonus, labbing your prop is cheaper than buying a new one.
give Bronson Hill in Santa Ana a call and ask them some questions. Talk to Byron or Joel. the info is free, check it out.

Sounds to me that your proped just about right on with the 496 mag. You are right on the rpm you should be spinning at wot.
My advice is to leave well enough alone, and spend your money on something else with a bigger return.
