I have a 7' tall wooden canoe bookshelf (those ones where they're cut in half and stood upright)
Well, I need to send it to Michigan from here in the Bay Area. Who can I call that will also give me the option of having them pack/build a crate for it? More importantly, what's the cheapest way of sending it?
Thanks!

Why would you send one here? They sell them all over the place for about 40-60 bucks.

You could always put the flat ends together and put the 14' canoe atop of a 72 vega staion wagon!..grow your hair and drive it there singing koom buya at the top of your lungs while doing bong hits :p

Or you could put a 502 and a jet in it and blast up river, porting it over the mountain passes... Kind of a modern day lewis and clark...

Ha ha, you guys are so funny! :notam:
Seriously, if anyone has an idea how to ship it. The damn thing was $750 new, and now I have to get it over to Michigan. Much appreciated! :)

The cheepest way is to go to Home Depot, buy some wood. You build the crate (it's pretty spendy to hire a crating company to come out and do it). Then make some calls to freight companys like Yellow Freight. Then YOU take it to the freight co.'s terminal and drop it off.
Now if cheep is really not the most important part then call a crating company like American Crating and have them come and crate it. Then have a courier pick it up and take it to the freight company.

Forward Air (ground) they have containers to rent but are expensive. Conveint way to ship bikes.
Central Transport- pretty cheap but you crate and get it to thier docks.
