Why Doesn't HB Test KACHINAs?

Anyone know? When I was looking for a boat, I was hot to find tests on Kachinas. Powerboat had tested a Shadow, but there were no tests on Forces and only the one for Shadow or the Enforcer.
Maybe Kachina doesn't offer up?

The mag solicits the builders all the time. If the builder won't bring one, it won't get reviewed.
I think Powerboat just had a Kachina review. Not bad, not great either....

Yeah, I would assume the MFGs approach HB and ask what they want or maybe they just say "here's what we have for you to test". I am thinking there is something in the past (a falling out) or some kind of issue. Just curious if any of you knew.

Well, I just know that I for one would have liked to know more about them. I called and talked to them and they were very helpful. But, I wanted an outside opinion and have always liked HB reports. They get them out on the water that I would be in, and run them through the paces.
Additionally, I asked them if they were going to be at ANY of the future LA boat shows, and they said they don't "participate" in the LA boat show. Had I been serious about a brand-new boat, I would have made the trip to Phoenix for the show they enter, but several people would probably like to see them at LA also. Seems they would sell more boats if they would jump in with the rest of the MFGs.

Well, it's a little late now, I have a boat. In the future, should I look at them again, I will take you up on that. Especially since I know you run Kachinas HARD (hee hee) j/k.
Besides, you would be biased. Just like if someone axes me about Sleeks, I am going to be a little biased toward that make. It just seems like a Kachina (whichever model) will stand it's own against any of the other manufacturers, but they seem to not be in the same testing / advertising program.

Yeah, HB is always great not making a bad comment about anyone, even when it was the worst handling boat they've ever tested. I don't think they do anyone in the market for a boat any favors as far as the reviews they give. You'd be better off asking about a boat you were looking at on the boards here and get some real life experiences from people who aren't looking to keep the advertising dollars rolling in. Just be ready to take the good with the bad. :D

Here is a pic of our boat at the Phoenix Boat Show (It's the one in front with the skull) :D We bought a boat show special, which, if you can wait for your boat I highly recomend as you get lots of freebies: Upgraded Stereo, DVD player, auto night light, cockpit and bow covers......The deal is they show it at the show and they you can have your boat. We love our boat, it's a 26ft force.....our son designed the skull on the engine cover. We actually have it back at Kachina now getting our 50 hour maint. thingy done. (I miss my boat)

Going to Mojave in late May and headed to the dam. I have only been to the little marina / closed restraunt in a friends Malibu. Started heading back towards Katherine's and found 18" chop leaving the river. 10-15mph all the way back. 3 hrs. Not this time!

It can get very nasty in the big basin,(Mohave) we were caught in 3 ft swells in our old 19ft Sea Ray, the waves washed over the bow and our the ski locker, we had the bildge on ALL the time, no where to beach, we had to keep going.
( I really like my 26fter) :D
Mead was nice and VERY uncrowded, compared to Havasu ;)

Trying to plan a weekend for Mead, too. Never been. The crew tossed around taking the Malibu a few times, but we never committed. Now that I have a "rough-water" boat, we can leave their Malibu here and hit the big water. Trying to plan a Powell trip for next year.

Powell is beautiful, and a big boat is a MUST, but you can't really camp at Lone Rock anymore, there is a sandbar around Lone Rock and the water is so low,it's all gross and oily.
Everyone has to go through the channel (by the dam) to get to the good parts of the lake from Waweap, so your better off boat camping or houseboating it....
Anasawsi Canyon is great, goes back for like a mile, each turn you think it's going to end...... :clover:

That being said, when it comes to boat reviews, I trust PBM over HB anyday! At least when they don't like something about the boat, they say it. (read the review on the 30, it ain't all positive).

On boats everyone will always be a little partial to the brand they own and defend it (as it should be) unless they had a bad experience.
Don't cut to deep on my choice of boats because it is mine and it might be the only one I can afford. :D

well thats taking it alittle to far the parties have talked and the issues are solved. there will be no bitchslapping going on with my friends. My two boys have worked it out and its all good in the neighborhood. I those who dont know them and there history might want to tone it down a bit. I had a long talk with Gary this morning and its all good.

But this thread did take a wrong turn. Nothing here should surprise anyone who has watched the various players. Half these guys love to raz people. They do it in fun and I know for a fact that they would be the first ones to help out someone on the lake. Both Gary and Frenchie have fed me and given me drink when they don't really know me. We're mostly aquaintances (if that can be said.) Yet I would look after them if something happened.
Things happen, on and off the boards. This too will pass. Gary has a great new boat, not my brand, but it's a cool looking boat and he loves it. Frenchie is getting a cool new boat. Things happen to people and we are fortunate to have others that care about us enough to look after us. After the shock of Gary's incident wore off and it was apparent that no one was seriously injured, they have been razzing him in various ways. In turn, I have seen people go after Frenchie in similar ways. Recently regarding Mel and their relationship. And it includes some comments that only friends could communicate with each other. Specifically comments about Mel's various roles in Frenchie's life. Not something I would say because I don't know them. But both Mel and Frenchie joke back about the comments.
Bottom line is friends and friends and if we want to be angry at someone, let's pick on the politicians, or the indians repossesing their trailer parks, or the Marina pukes, or Mercruiser for the 496, or the Bravo XZ drive (which I just replaced) etc. etc.

We just don’t work with Hot Boat anymore. We went through several studies and found that while the Hot Boat forums are a great asset to boaters, Powerboat is more widely known through the boating community. I kept track of how people were hearing about us and between the actual forums, boat trader, and the Powerboat magazine, I really did not have enough interest in the Hot Boat magazine to justify the cost of advertising in it. Another company that we are looking to advertise with is Extreme Boating Magazine. Have you seen these? They have a quality to their magazine that far supersedes other companies. The color quality is amazing and best of all, they are wonderful to work with. A bonus about them is that they don’t just focus on boating, they spice up the magazine with information on other hobbies as well. I would suggest taking a peek at their magazine, you will be amazed.
We do several write ups each year with Powerboat. We just did two test demos in March. However, they don’t tell us when they are coming out. We did the best value under $80,000 and the 100 MPH run. Both drives did very well. We had our first boat go over 111 MPH!!!! I put information on this on the web site so anyone who is curious can check it out.
