Now I have yet another decision to make:
Option A= spend (x) for twin stage 1 Raylar kits that will get me about 550HP per motor, should run similar to a pair of 525's. This 550HP is somwhat significant in comparison to my stock 375HP.
Option B= spend (x) plus another $10k :jawdrop: for twin stage II kits that will get me over 600HP, and will include seasoned blocks, that have been completely and professionally blueprinted, all new forged internals, 1-year warranty and dyno testing.
Damn $hit adds up quick. I have XR's and full hydraulic steering, so the power should be okay either way.

What warranty do you get with the Stage 1 package? 10k sure seems like a lot of money for 50+ horsepower each?!?

No warranty for the "stage 1", as I would just be adding to the stock motors and losing the factory Merc warranty for the motors and maybe drives.

no brainer #2......
hey its only money. you can't spend it when your gone ;)
Merc warranty ain't worth the paper its written on.. there is an excellent chance that if something breaks they won't fix it anyway.... :argue:

Asking for donations for the new boat, new house AND talking about upgrading the boat before you get it? :D
Save some for the insurance!

Ummmm, just do the Merc 525's and get an extended warranty. :squiggle:
Better resale with blue motors.

Hell, you can't sell the one you have! You'd be double screwed......Ah HA!
Name of boat: "DOUBLE SCREWED"
On the motor issue, I know I would be so freaked about the money already spent, that I would just run the motors till something broke. I'll always upgrade when I have an excuse, but I have a hard time justifying the other.
It would give you a chance to get used to the boat and then you could use your seasoned motors to build them to (by that time) possibly STAGE-III.

Let me just say that I got off the phone with Teagues shop and they are asking $36,000 for a single new Ilmor 625HP motor. That being said, I am getting a GREAT price for the pair of brand new 600's as mentioned above, with all the stock Mercury Guardian electronics and such. Suffice it to say, $10k under just one of those motors.
I could probably go wrong somewhere, I just can't see how :hammerhea

Is it too late to have them seal up the holes in the transom and throw 3 300X Whackers on it?
