my mother has a 91 4runner with a v-6. the water pump went out on saturday. any body out there have experience with this vechile, how hard is it to change to water pump? its not a big block so im lost.

It's a bit of a bitch to r&r. You have to pull everything off the front of the motor if I remember correctly.
It's not enough of a bitch to take it to a mechanic($$$$$$) though.

I've found Japanese vehicles to be way easier to work on than north amercian vehicles. Go to Walmart, pick up a Chilton repair manual, and have at any job.

You may as well replace the timing belt while you have the thing apart.... Not that tough, you just have to disassemble the entire front end, j/k :D
It's not that bad... Just time consuming... Dealer will likely charge you about 600 to do....

i just got a quote for 400 just for labor :mad: :mad: looks like water pump 101 for me. roz will i have to worry about any timming issues being that im taking off the timming belt?

Didn't have a problem whem we did one on a 95 pu.... Going to do the Belt and pump on my 99 4Runner within the next couple weeks... Let me know how your goes ;) lol... I have a family friend who use to be a Toy tech(now BMW) I can call if I have any questions...
