Predator was third or fourth when they passed us southbound on the first leg. We were anchored just south of Steamboat. I dont know the name of the boat which was in first, but it had a good lead and sounded strong. About ten minutes later, Predator passed by northbound haulin ass and in the lead. The next boat by was about three minutes behind Predator.
Talking to some peeps in the channel later. I was told they were flying the RRL flag from their boat while anchored and watching the poker run just south of where we were. The boat in the lead mistaked them and the white RRL flag as a card stop...dohhhhhh. When they figured out their mistake, Predator and the rest of the pack had passed them.

As far as I could tell Predator was first by a nice distance. I was a little south of Black Meadows on the Az. side. Predator had a nice lead by this point. Also it looked as if our own 3DO was not doing too bad. Wasn't sure if it was him or not but he was hanging in there. I saw no sign of Bling.

this is true..sucks that he had made the mistake but on the way back I believe that he did reclaim the lead.

There is alot of credit due to all that attended the poker run especially to the ones that drove so far (Mike Fior of Outer Limits and many more). There were many fast boats and great drivers. (No injuries that I knew of)
Thanks very much to Jim, Art, and the whole crew that put it on. And made it safe & fun.

When talking with Gary yesterday, he said a few boats jumped the start. He made the turn at BML and hammered the throttles. Smoked them all down. Great job Gary.
Heard about one injury, one of the big Skaters hit one of the tour boat wakes. Launched pretty good and came down hard. Passenger's head and knee met and busted up his head pretty good.
What happend to Bling, didn't see him out.

Down and back in 15 minutes, including the 65mph cruise behind the paceboat until Havasu Palms, and the approach to the card station. Pretty darn quick.

If this was at the start of the PR it was the Skater next to us. He hit a roller an launched. Almost pointed to 12:00 when it tripped the transom and smacked down hard. We hit the same roller at 125 and launched. Smacked down hard and lost a fuel pump.
It was a great start. 5 or 6 boats jumped the start. With all the spray it was hard to see the start flag. One of the lead boats I understand wasn't even registered in the Poker Run which caused some confusion. It was a bitchen day. Great poker run that was well organized. Good job Jim N and team!!!!

I was at the start and a couple of boats took off early including me before they dropped the flag. Im pretty positive it was Gone again and Predator that took off early. The rest of the field waited for the flag to drop which was a good 40 or 50 seconds after predator and gone again took off. After I realized I had left early I felt like an ass and waited for the rest of the field than continued to run. The first boat to the card stop should be from the field that waited for the flag to drop. Not sure whom it was but I think it could have been a Nortech and than bobbit in his skater. It was another great event and no injuries just a few broken boats. I have to give it up to Jim and Art and the rest of the crew.

You're right!!! I wasn't out to proove anything, just streching the legs on my new boat. I had Keith Holmes (driver of Cat Can Do) helping me with the controls, and all 6 people in my boat felt safe and comfortable. Even my wife (big surprise)! We were only 3/4 throttle and had the drives tucked, we didn't get loose or upset the boat, like a few others, off that big tour boat wake!! It was like riding in a big convertible caddy.

I should probably be careful saying this, because when Allstate finds out what they've insured I'll probably lose the coverage. I kept the policy open when I sold my Cigarette and my broker somehow replaced the Cig with the Skater...$4500 a year.

The important thing is everybody made it down safe. Teague’s little game at the drivers meeting really put things into perspective.
It was a great show and gotta give it up for the heavy hitters who played by the rules. Powerboat magazine staff said they had never seen a more awesome display of hardware at ANY poker run in the nation (and yes, that includes LOTO, Florida, New Jesrey/NY and the Great Lakes).
Although the start could have been better, serious progress was made with the Coast Guard. CG officials had not only Chief Todd Taylor controlling the run from land at Spectator Point, but he also had CG officers on the water in the IMCO pace boat and on Kachina26’s safety boat. At the end of the day, all CG officials were pleased with run and next year the start should be dialed in.

And what was that?
He ask all the 100 mph + boat teams to come forward. Then ask all who were less that 110 to step back, then less than 120 then less than 130, then less than 140, then less than 150 then only a handful remained. There seemed to be over 20, 100 mph + boats. 3 or 4 over 150.

Didn't the CRC boat come in right behind the Predator? I heard he came in right behind him. Pretty good seeing as how the Predator has twin 1300hp Larry Peto motors.. and the CRC Boat has twin 750 Mercs.

Sorry I wasn't clear, ChumpChange. Bob has a unique way of making things look bigger than life. It's not often you see this many, or this caliber of true 100 mph + fast boats in one place. These were they guys that can stay on it for miles ... not 1/4 miles. He for sure wanted everyone to know it. The "no reason to race" thing is just wishful thinking. :)

Thanks Gary that sure was a blast! I was so freakin' pumped up after that run, my hands were shakin for the whole 2 hour idle back to the dock. Keith's the best! Bruce is trying to put together a Mead run for Skaters in a month...it'd be good to see you there.
Thanks Clown Royal!

Here's a phone number to call re: dvd-- 714-3450666. His name is Justin and he is a big boat fan and very computer savy. He works with Carbon Fiber, boat sound systems, computers and converts home movies, stills, slides, etc to DVD and adds sound(music, narration, etc.) Talented guy. Give him a call. (Sorry if this sounds like a commercial).

The camera is likely a MiniDV. It should have a firewire flug on it somewhere. If you have a computer with firewire input, just plug the camera into the computer and some software will start automatically that will allow you to record/edit the video to your computer. Save it as an .avi or .wmv file and then you can post it. It's really pretty easy if you can work a computer.
I'm going to go ahead and embarrass myself here and say what's a firewire? I know the tool box, not the keyboard.
Not USB....right?
