Nice boat, seems like a great price. Depending on what exactly is entailed with "Will benefit from some TLC".

I'm probably way off base here. First thing that catches my eyes is 330HP. Thats a big boat. How will it perform?

I agree
For that price I would like to get a take out 500efi and put in its place.

It will hit about 65gps. Other boats for this year same package are going for around 45k. I would hope there isnt that much work that needed to be done. It could be a great deal.

That is a darn good price, but I also question the TLC part :)
Plus it looks like it dosen't include a trailer.

That is great price as long as there isn't any structual damage (stringers, transom etc.). I think a 525, some interior and some graphics and you would have a sweet ride that you couldn't buy new for double what you'd have into it.

I really like those boats. Seems like a god price. Add new interior, Peto 675efi motor, xr drive and fun.

Get the VIN/Hull Number. Call Joe at Sunsation and they can tell you the history oft he boat. When it was built, who the orignial owner was, what options it had and any other history they may know of. Mt. Clemens is in the factorys back yard so I'm sure they know of the boat. I'll be back there in August and would be happy to take a look at it if you can wait :p

65 with a stock motor in a 28? That's impressive! that would make that boat a hell of a deal!

Alot of boats around the great lakes area do not have trailers. They are stored in giant storage facilities (drydocked) that put them on very large racks stacked 3-4 high. I bet that boat has spent more time indoors then out. There are alot of screaming deals out here on boats over 30K.. mooring is about 1500-2k + a summer (3-4 months) out here where I live and I think that is the low end.. winter storage is not that cheap either. This adds up and for how much many of these folks use their boats, It does not make sense after a few years. Add in fuel, maintanence, Ins, ect and around here a new set of props or shafts a season plus winterizing and de-winterizing.. It costs thousands just say you own one. Compared to golf or a vacation away from winter hell many lose intests fast. R.B.

Check the Sunsation thread at OSO. If I am remembering right, some of the guys over there have seen the boat in person and said it is trashed and not worth the price. I'd check with them before I bought a plane ticket for spend much gas money for sure.
You are right, it's been on trader a long time. Lotta boat for the money on trader that long must mean it's a total POS.
With all that said, the Sunsation 288's are great boats. I got to drive a 2004 with a HP500 and it was pretty awesome!

That boat will never hit 65 with 330HP.
They are very similar to the Nordic 28's (which I have) and I only hit 64 with a stock 502.
Looks like a clean boat, just plop a used 496HO in there and you are set.
What drive is on it?

According to other owners with this boat those are the #'s they are seeing....I see 65mph in my boat stock 454...but thats a 23fter... :p

I was told my Nordic would do 70 too. (just not on GPS) :p
All I know is the 288 Sunsation is close in weight and dimensions to the Nordic, and 330HP is alot less than my 415.
I love the Sunsations, they are a great boat and if this one is in semi-decent condition it is a great buy.

The 288 I drove was a mid-cabin powered by a HP500. It ran 74hp on GPS with 5 of us on board in very smooth water.
I too really doubt that boat could hit 65mph with the low powered 454...

My experience with boat trader and ads that have been up along time is this; The boat is probably sold, and has been for a while, but the ad has been paid and will run for ever it seems.
I chased a boat around last summer. Could never get an answer on the phone number listed. Finally got a person and they said to stop calling, the boat was sold month ago... :D
