Actually there are so many more labradors than pitbulls it is expected that you see about the same number of bites in the news. Pit bulls are on the insurance list for uninsurable while labs aren't. Let's talk percentages fool!
Good Day!

If a Lab bites someone, it should be put down. It is uncharacteristic and an undesirable trait. Every lab book I have ever read has pretty much said that.
I would tend to agree.
I get your point though. Pretty funny.

the reason the dogs are uninsuarable for some insurance is because ot the all the media headlines they get!!! plain and simple.... and the pit bulls are all lumped together as one, when in fact there are many.... The American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the Bull Terrier..... and what about all the mutts that bite that have a little bit of the breed in them automatically get labeled as a pit bull.....
so mr. percentage what is the percantage of dog bites of the different breeds??

So where do cute little adorable Cocker Spaniels rate on the "insurance list?"
(Hint: this is a trick question  )

I heard a news report here in Vegas (some time ago) that the MOST unstable dog is an un-neutered, back yard kept (almost never gets out) German Shepard. There are more attacks (percentage) by these dogs than any and yet everyone failed to mention them.. :notam: I had a Shepard and never showed his teeth in the 12 yrs we owned him.
Therefore I believe the owner is primarily to blame in ALL instances.

It is no accident that dogs owners are umltimately responsible for their dogs actions. I know my dog, and I make decisions based on her personality on when it is appropriate to let her out and visit and when it is not. Also, I make every attempt at keeping her locked in the yard when I am not home to protect her and anyone else. If she were to do something to someone, I would have to take responsibilty for it. By the way, I spend time training her and showing her affection and correct her when she misbehaves around others.

About 3 years ago my mom went to go visit her girlfriend at her home. My mom had been there a gazillion times. When her friend opened the door my mom bent down to pet the "once" friendly black lab......it lunged at her and bit her WHOLE top lip off. It was probably one of the most horrific things I have been through...and I did not even physically go through it. My mom has been through 3 reconstructive surgeries to repair her face. They did not put the dog down (my mom is an animal lover). She sued her friends homeowners insurance (not her friend personally), which is a natural course of action. Her friend took it personal and has not spoken to her since.... I hate her friend (who I have known since I was a kid)!! By looking at my mom you would have no idea this happned...she had a great plastic surgeon!! To this day I hate talking about it.... All dogs that bite should be beat.....then put down!!! I dont wish what she went through on anyone!! :(

Two weeks ago, a Chocolate Lab bit me twice (shame on me) while trying to pet him...My sister had adopted it from a pound or something....Bit my mom on Mothers day....dog was sent back the next day...
My lesson learned...."There is a reason that dog was on death row; why pardon him"...
Regardless, I felt sorry for the dog...someone raised him wrong or he was screwed up to begin with...sad

This is the same for millions of humans.... I'd rather put them down and save the dogs :D :D :D

Most dogs will protect their owners (humans). I had a golden retriever that would not let anyone in the back if no one was home, but yet the kids in the neighborhood would come to the house and ask if Summer (my golden) could come out and play. Its the way their raised, or they could be screwed up in the head...just like some people..... :supp:
