How are you doing CDS? Welcome aboard. I too am fairly new here and you'll like it. You should carry everything you mentioned in your post. Don't forget life jackets and coast guard kit. And finally the most important thing no boat should be without, BEER. So what did you buy and where do you do your boating?

Casinodelsol..........welcome to the sandbox. Tips.....hmmmm, do a search on this site. A guy named boatcop listed all the needs a month or so ago I thought. If not.......he will most likely chime in here and help you out. He is a wealth of knowledge with that stuff :rollside:
Or send him a pm

Actually you need a few more things...As I just got a ticket at Martinez for not having these items "within reach", I'm a fairly good reference...
You must have a whistle, fire extinguisher and life guard approved vests (orange ugly ones) for ALL aboard. Happy boating. :)

Hand held whistle is fine, also the life jackets if they are ski jackets have to have a Coast Gaurd approved lable on the inside of the jacket. If the cops are being nasty, they will also want to have something to throw in case someone goes over board. It has to float and be able to hold a certain amount of weight. I got around this by nailing a strap to the bottom of my seat cusion and yes it does meet the regulations. To find out for sure if you are really worried about. PM BOAT COP. he is a great source of information regarding the rules of the water.
