So Thursday I reached out to pick up a printer out of the back of my truck and felt it right away, I still ran my call (work) and then went to my buddies house and laid down couldnt get up to make it home till about 9:00 pm. (hurts like hell....)
Took Friday off hoping it would get better.(it didnt, & still hurts like hell)
So today at about noon I couldnt stand it anymore!!!! and went to the ER, They gave me a shot of Dilaudid, Codine and Flexoril.. :D and an appointment to go back monday..
(that Dilaudid is some fun stuff)
At this point I'm ready to get a loan and pay for a MRI and surgery on my own (or atleast try to)
The real kick in the ASS is,
I borrowed a buddies truck and we replaced the radiator and chargrd the AC so I could get the boat back to the river this weekend, Well here I sit at home with pills.. :frown: (my buddie got a few good pics of me as the shot of dilaudid started to kick my ass) :jawdrop:
So I sure hope everyone else has a better weekend than me.

Cold packs and heat packs, just lay there........
My wife made me one of these: Put uncooked white rice in a sock.....a big tube sock. Sew the end shut, Microwave it for 2.5 minutes. Awesome heat pack.

Don't mess with it. See a good neurosurgeon, and get a proper diagnosis. trust me.

Sorry to hear that. No need to be in a hurry when messing with the spinal cord. I hope the recovery goes well.

Triple diskectomy, and a lot of bone grinding to leave room for nerves to exit. My L4-L5 disc was basically shattered , so a triple level fusion is next, unless the doctor can come up with another option. He is at a conference/seminar back in Ohio this week, and says there are some new techniques coming in the near future, so he is trying to buy me some time before commiting. He says a fusion will leave me with a chronic bad back for life, with future complications in the future. We will see, but I am flat on my back for the next month.

I used to have back pain, but then I started working my back. I think that if the muscles are strong along the spinal cord then less of a chance for it to hurt. I use the roman chair (reverse situps) and hold some weigh while doing it. Thor might be able to tell ya a little more!!! He knows about that stuff.

Damn guys, that sucks. I wish you well....
RH, does that really work? I am open for almost anything now besides a Dr. visit. I got a bad siatic nerve. Y'all aren't totally alone.

It has worked for me. Just start off little at a time. I now do about 30 reps holding a 25lb weight. I have been working physically all my life have dealt with back pain for a while before I started this. Maybe a little sore every once in a while, but worth it. I think the muscles take some of the strain off the spine.
Hell. give it a shot :rollside:

I think you need to see another doctor. I have a L3, L4, L5 & S1 fusion with no major complications. The only thing my doc said I could not do was parachute and bungee jump. No problemo doc!

Good luck Gary I hope you feel better soon, just don't make any sudden moves...ouch.
Get well soon Rick, Debs first surgery was a diskectomy and it worked for a while...the second was a 4 level fusion and she's got chronic back pain becasue of it, you're right.
Once the genies out of the bottle (disc) it's hard to put it back...Preventative measures on your back are the best bet...I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in December. Very painful, but manageable. When the pain starts, I dose up on Soma and Advil, Take a break and try to relax the muscles. Seems to work so far..

Doctor just called to see when I want my fusion. Real joker. :D I think I should have at least gotten some free liposuction while he was in there. I told him I was going to go see if my dick still worked. He said good luck, and don't strain. :2purples:

Man brothers i feel for you guys. I had a lumbar laminectomy(sp?) 8 years ago. 2 slipped disks putting pressure on my sciatic nerve, couldn't walk without any pain, bend over, etc.Don't wish that pain on anyone.pain went away after that surgery. Occassionally my back tightens up with excessive bending or lifting. Just try to know my limits now. I too got that "beautiful" scar on my lower back.Good luck guys.

Thinking of getting a tat of a vertabrae column there. Wife says no, I think it would be cool. Don't know how much it would hurt getting it done next to the scar tissue.

im having some trouble with my back right now too. i guess i have a crooked spine, and it runs in my family. ive been seeing a chiropractor twice a week and its just about back to normal. im not exactly sure what it is thats wrong but its the L5 vert messing with some nerves. i dont have hardly any pain in my back, but my left leg hurts like hell sometimes.
