Met a very nice older gentelman today, Art Carlson. He has been in the boat building since the 50's. The boat I followed through town is a little odd. Art said he has worked with Glasstron, Reggie Fountain & Dick Barron from Hallett just to name a few. (I forgot the rest) This hull is 33' with a 11.5' beam. He claims it runs in the 70's with a stock 454 mag. Not to bad.

WOW, that is ONE UGLY BOAT! The front half reminds me of the big Bajas with their bubble-like decks.
Art designed Hallet's 260 AC. That's what the AC is for, Art Carlson.

Hallet has had a hull similar to that (260AC??) for a few years and there were some pretty decent reviews for it.
Funny looking to me, but if it works....

Very nice guy. It's a sport fishing boat. It's not going to look good.

The Starcraft CSS isn't extremely dissimilar to that, either.
... another Art Carlson design. :)

I'd love to meet him. I wonder how he would feel about the modifications I made to my CVX-16. I'll bet he would be curious enough to want a shot at the controls.

It wouldn't be right for me to cold call him. If you have contact with him again, maybe mention the guy who put a modified Merc 260 on a rebuilt and beefed up CVX-16.

Wonder if he has a shirt that says," I worked for Hallett and only got this stinkin' trailer" :D

For some reason, I now have "50,000 leagues under the sea" running like a song in my head - from the SNL skit with Kelsey Grammer. :rollside:

He said thats too much power for a 16'er. He though 150 was the max.
He knew of a Robitalle that made some speed runs in that hull without that much power. ??? He said BE CAREFUL :supp:

Sounded like Hallett was going to build a few of these boats.

I believe Hallet has already has a production of the AC line. I took a few pics of one I saw a while back, I will see if I can dig them up. I think it was a Hallet AC 280?

The bottom design makes alot of sense ... Milder Deep-V up front for good running until the Aft Tunnels have enough air in them to help lift the heavier back half of the boat up on Plane ... Really Like The Bottom ... The top, not so keen on, but, looks like the cabin would have considerable head room ... Still, I'd prefer a much Different Deck.

Hallett worked with him and developed this boat, the 260 AC Limited

The Hallett 260AC is a really nice handling, fast, efficient boat. It has an unusual look on the trailer, but in the water you can't tell until it blows by you. There quite a few around.
