My family is planning a trip to lake mead this summer. This will be our first time out there. Were is the best place to stay at? We also would like to be close enough to drive to vegas. I heard to stay up on the upper end of lake mead. Is there lots of sandy beaches? Probably planning to go sometime in July and need all the info possible, thanks!

Only 2 marinas with hotels, Echo & Temple Bar. There are some casinos in Henderson and just outside Bolder City. Sandy beaches and more quite area are north of the narrows. Check LVHB they have more locals on that site.

Mead is great. I enjoy Gregg Basin. It's the farthest from civilization but it's great water. We'll be there the last week of June and were staying at the Hacienda casino, not to far from the dam. Probably 30 mins to Vegas and only minutes to the water. I'll give you a review of the Hacienda after we get back.
Good luck....:)

Upper end of the Lake is where you want to be. Echo or Temple is about the only thing on the water. Like PB said ask over on LVHB and I am sure you will get more than one response.
Plenty of beachs out there. Just gotta put some effort into looking for them.
