DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 260,000 vehicles, most of them large pickup trucks, to fix safety defects that include sudden stalling of diesel engines, U.S. federal safety regulators said Monday.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the stalling problem affects F-Series Super Duty pickups from the 2004-2005 model years as well as the 2004-2005 Ford Excursion full-size sport utility vehicle and E350 and E450 vans.
About 180,100 of these vehicles are equipped with 6.0 liter diesel engines and the recall stems from a potentially faulty fuel injection control module, NHTSA said.
Beyond the 260,000 vehicles that NHTSA revealed, Ford said an additional 18,000 vehicles are also being recalled in Canada and Mexico, company spokeswoman Kristen Kinley told Reuters Monday.
She said Ford was also investigating 2003 model-year F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks equipped with the 6.0 liter diesel engines due to various engine performance issues.

That would explain why mine went out about 3 weeks ago... leaving me to coast 10 miles into town..... At least there isn't anything wrong with their wheel bearings.... :angry2: :hammer2:

16,000 miles on my f-350 its been in for a bad Exhaust sencer and a short dealing w/ the tail lights. In park the reverse light came on after a couple days they stayed on and when off when I hit the brakes. WTF is next.

Seems like ford has been having a good amount of problems lately. It's a shame , cause it's on hell of a truck.

we (Ford owners) have been waiting for mother ford to take their thumbs out of their asses and finally do something about this. The 6.0 PSD is an International engine with crappy ford electronics (therein lies the problem). However, @ 28K miles, I'm very happy with mine and get very good mileage.
Many software programmers have been hired and fired due to the many re-flashes that were put out for the PSD to "help" with certain little annoyances. Instead, each flash made things worse. Finally they got it right (I hope).
I'll post more info as I recieve it..

so instead of 15mpg you like 8mpg? Or when the spark plugs blow out of their threads? I'm still trying to get involved with a suit against Ford for this in their gasser V8's and V10's.

Once you burn oil you'll never go back.

thats VERY good news. Not many folks have that good of mileage with their V10's. Did you ever test drive a PSD. I tell you what man. Empty or towing its just like heaven.

nope, haven't got diesel fever just of yet. Maybe someday but I doubt it. Don't like the sound of them. Been a gas guy all my life. My F-250 has been a great truck. Just love driving it. It's all worth 12 mpg to me. ;)

I tell you what, Till this truck, I've never been a diesel guy either, Heck, I've been a chevy guy all of my life. It wasn't until I have been raping the ford ambulances at work that I have realized what an awesome motor a diesel is. The stop and go and acceleration and whatever the hell else I do with that rig just makes me think...If I do this at work and the rig still gets to 250,000 miles, then how long will my personal diesel truck last.....Its just jaw dropping.
Noise, what noise, Straight pipe (remove CAT and muffler) and all you hear is the jet like whistle of the turbo. It sure is Sweet!

I just called the dealer I bought my Excursion from and Ford will be mailing out the recall notices in the next 3-4 weeks. the service writer sd they will do the repairs once the recall notices are sent out...
If They know about the problem....Why can the not just fix it now...wtf
